Or is there more to it then just being in great shape ? Differs for each team...typically happens if a doctor won't clear the player for being fully healthy. Maybe its a shoulder injury they think will be an issue or a knee, etc... Could be a lot of different things...basically the team doctors are saying this player is a medical liability to the team and is not worth the risk associated with it. And what one team doctor views as failing a physical another team doctor might think is OK and not an issue. 42 minutes ago, HOUSE said: Note to myself: Never blackmail my employer while injured If he was injured and they waived him he probably has a grievance Edited November 20, 2020 by matter2003 2

Saxum Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 Have seen players waived, signed by team which is rival (historical or during playoff hunt), and waived. Bills picked up a waivered player, doctor found health issue previous team did not know about and waived. Player got issue treated. Forgot who it was but it was serious issue. Some players have better doctors and specialists.

I won’t say you are are cray cray (more to do with my pride than your sanity)... but of course guys that arent 100% can and do get waived regularly. For all we know he had an unknown cancer that was detected on exam (extreme example) or it’s a matter of the 9ers docs being stricter than the previous team and player, or maybe something the player never reported. no, you can’t cut a dude on IR but there’s plenty of ways a guy could be cut and fail a physical later 2

There has to be an agreement from the player and usually there is a financial settlement. Incidentally, he has a bad groin injury. Still, expect the Browns to make another claim for him when he goes through waivers again. They did so the first two times and they are still very interested in him. Plus they are in long term team building mode. They’ll take him even if they have to IR him for the remainder of the season. Edit: Raiders are also interested in Tak. If they want him - they can sign him in the off-season.

I know they’ve put claims in on him both times. I guess they just want to do their own medical evaluation on him.
Saint Doug Posted November 23, 2020 Posted November 23, 2020 You think it’s possible he is failing his physical on purpose to get on to the team he wants?

Or, still wincing in pain when they try to manipulate it. I could see a veteran doing this to land on a contender (as I wouldn’t want to sign with SF or the Bengals either), but I believe his salary is guaranteed to paid by ATL this year anyways. Then again, he asked to be traded and there, he wouldn’t had any power in picking his team. You would think one of these teams would at least sign him and then shelf him for the rest of the year on IR or the PS.
