It gave him more $ this year & next, but it opens the door for tearing up the contract in 2022 & re-signing him to a much bigger deal. Diggs agreed to a restructured contract with the Bills on Wednesday, increasing his compensation for the 2020 season by $3.3 million to $14.8 million, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. On top of that, Diggs' guaranteed money for 2021 will go up $7.7 million to $11 million, while his combined 2022-23 take will decrease from $25.55 million to $22.67 million. https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/football/news/bills-stefon-diggs-has-contract-restructured/#:~:text=Diggs agreed to a restructured,Garafolo of NFL Network reports. 1

I either missed that or the brain is failing. Thank you 1
thenorthremembers Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 The last two weeks Diggs has shown the catch and run ability that the offense really needs. Thats something the offense has sorely missed, and something Beane said the Bills were going to go after. My hope is the contract doesnt become an issue, but he is obviously better than the 16th best wideout in the league.

That was just a $3.3M raise for THIS season for accepting the trade. He will be wanting......and likely getting a whole bunch of new and additionally guaranteed money on a new deal this winter.........or it will be a problem and/or a holdout. The funny thing is that there were fans that thought he was actually going to play on that old deal........that bargain contract didn't even survive the summer!

After this year Singletary has two more cost controlled seasons and Moss has 3, literally no need to invest high capital in that position when you have a pair of good young backs. TE is hard, I don't know if they have soured on Knox or not. Kroft is a high end backup, Lee Smith a specialist who isn't that great and Sweeney is a replaceable backup caliber player. I could easily see this team spending a high pick at TE but even high draft choices don't really add "speed" to the offense. So if you look at the WR corp as balanced with a blend of speed and size and the TE position isn't a "burner" position the only place where you can add some speed is a third RB but given how they like to have the third RB be a ST player I think you need to find a speed back that can play ST. Overall I would say that my off-season priority would be to re-sign D.Williams, Ty and Mongo and get an upgrade at TE either high up in the draft or via free agency (Cut the fat on defense and spend most of your cap dollars on the offense.) Then on defense resign Milano to a one year prove it deal and use most of your draft picks on the defense to restock it as best as possible. Hopefully you can make some hits on that side of the ball in the draft to repair the foundation a bit. As great as it would be to have a speedy running back, it's very doubtful that the Bills will be looking to add to that position. TJ Yeldon is on his final year, and I don't know if they want to keep Taiwan Jones for another season. That leaves Antonio Williams & Christian Wade. I think the Bills will be looking at other positions to fill.

It was a great trade for Buffalo. I think this is a point that deserves emphasis, and isn't well captured by just comparing targets and catches and yards. The Bills were looking for someone who could elevate their offense: who would come in and hit the ground running, expand on some of what Beasley did last year (educate Josh Allen on how to help his WR make plays for him), and also mentor the young guys. Kim Jones of NFLN says she's been talking to players in the Buffalo locker room and Stefon has done every bit of that. It's not impossible that a young rookie could have come in and taken on that role, but especially with the limited off season that would be a huge ask.

Absolutely, Diggs has brought his years of experience, knowledge and elite skill set to Buffalo, and is happily sharing what he knows and has learned with this team, that is a package no WR in the draft could begin to offer. Diggs is worth every single draft pick and more. Go Bills!!!

Mikie2times Posted November 11, 2020 Posted November 11, 2020 What I love about Diggs..name his best quality? I don’t think I could. He basically does everything at a high enough level that no singular thing stands out. Complete player.

Diggs is helping in the redzone even where he doesn't catch the ball. 1
