I don't either unfortunately...   but they really need someone in this roll desperately...  and I don't think Star is the answer either esp after sitting out the year.

Have to be honest.  Little concerned about a 30 year old player sitting out a full year myself.

I asked about Dalvin Tomlinson

Response:

I have not heard him discussed as option, not that it hasn't I just have not heard it.

Where did it originate that he was on the market?

They have Leonard Williams and Davlin Tomlinson on expiring contracts. They’re both free agents and at 1-7 you need to start thinking whether or not you can even retain these guys.

Why wouldn’t they re sign Tomlinson? They’re not cap strapped, he’s a defensive captain, and he hasn’t peaked yet. That’s the exact kinda guy to keep. Add in he’s said he doesn’t want to be traded he wants to be there.
Williams they could possibly recoup what they gave up for him.

I am not sure it has. Ever truly been reported he was. I know people have asked his name a ton so I figured I should ask.

I think it was a website Syracuse.com or buffalo rumblings is the oldest mention I seen who suggested it.

Not saying they don’t want to keep him, I’m sure they probably would like to. Might point is they might rather keep Williams rather than Davlin. Many teams covet pass rushers more, hell, look what we thought of Star. We don’t know what they’re thinking, but with 20 million in cap space next year, and each one of those guys possibly getting 12-16 million they may need to choose, and when you’re a bad team, you gotta consider draft picks

I just can’t figure out why his name has been discussed so much, I didn’t even see as much as a rumor that he was available

I have no idea why NFL franchises don't get rid of guys on expiring deals when they are completely out of it.

It never makes sense to me, but continues to happen year after year.  Get rid of the comps picks.  I think that would help a little.

1 part "Beane knows Gettleman" and 1 part wishful thinking.

I’m in Giants country and his name is constantly thrown around as a guy they may or may not be able to be retained. Idk if there’s any sources saying he’s available, I think it’s just a few of us seeing a productive player on an expiring contract and crossing our fingers a bit. I think also watching him last night collapse the pocket and makes TFL’s made us all yearn for run defense.

And Beane and Gentleman have a great relationship.  I'd love him on this DL.

I dont think that natters in trading players.

comp picks seem to be tied to net gain/loss not individual players.

I also feel with our staff, our weight room/recovery facilities , that coaching and Front Office feel we'll be perfectly fine with a healthy roster come Dec/Jan and there's no need to panic

Sometimes those remaining games matter for development of a QB........or they might want to bring those players back so don't want them going elsewhere.

The example would be the Texans........is it worth trading Will Fuller for a day 3 pick and undermining DeShaun Watson's performance for the final 8 games?
