I like what Cleveland has done with Braylon Edwards, S Brodney Pool and QB Charlie Frye

NE must not have seen too much value in the 2nd round trading out with Baltimore. And I do think OG/OT Logan Mankins will be an impact player. Not a superstar but then again, thats not the Pats way. Lunch pail guys all the way.

I can't believe we wasted a 2nd round pick on a 5'10", 170 lb WR who only got a 10 on the Wonderlic test.

What kind of wonderlic would you like in a player whose job it is to stretch the field on O and return punts?

Here is the ESPN/Scouts write-up on Roscoe.  Note the bold statements.

However, Parrish has the potential to develop into a sure-handed and shifty slot receiver that can also contribute as a punt return specialist.

i think this is the statement that best applies to the pick.

Gil Brandt on Roscoe Parrish

According to the above article, Roscoe couldn't even hold down a punt return position at the college level. Nice.

Quote - When the ball's in the air and Hester is back on the return team, "you know something is going to happen," said receiver Roscoe Parrish, who lost his job as UM's No. 1 punt returner to Hester.

I'd like him to be smart enough to run the right route. The Patriots put a high value on intelligent players, and they've done okay with that drafting philosophy.

Just got back from dinner. I know it doesn't matter - but I also am curious what the guys on ESPN said about the pick. I caught the tail end of guys on ESPN radio who thought it was a good pick. Can someone objectively report what the guys doing coverage on ESPN said?

Also - what noteworthy picks were left at that point (like Mel's top remaining prospects)?

I can't say for sure because I was putting the kids to bed, but I thought I saw a pick or two before the Bills picked that Parrish was the fourth best-available guy on Mel's list.

So someone who doesn't test well in a test primarily consisting of abstract puzzle solving is not smart enough to run the right route?

That's quite a leap. I don't care what any other team has done, but I'd rather have a guy that can make plays over one who can solve insignificant riddles in an insignificant test. When guys get yardage based on points in tests I'll change my opinion, but as long as the game is a game of emotion and physical ability, I'll tend to discount mental acuity - especially in a player who's not asked to QB the offense.
