He only ran at the combine; he did two 40s in 4.37 each. At Miami's Pro Day March 3, he ran two 40s in 4.45 and 4.38. He also ran the short shuttle in 4.08 seconds, the three-cone drill in 6.69 and the long shuttle in 11.13. He had a 36-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot-5 broad jump. He played quarterback and defensive back in high school. At Miami, he redshirted in 2001. In 2002, he started three games as a wide receiver and returned punts. He became a full-time starter in 2004 and wound up with 43 catches and eight touchdowns. Hurricanes head coach Larry Coker called him the most exciting player he had ever coached. He's undersized with great speed and quickness. He has a very good burst and good hands. He does not have very long arms (28 5/8 inches); he might have a tough time against the bump in the NFL.

Here is the ESPN/Scouts write-up on Roscoe. Note the bold statements.

Strengths: Explodes off the line, has the quick first step to drive defenders back and can get open quickly. Plays with good toughness, isn't afraid to go over the middle and has shown the ability to hang onto the ball after taking the big hit. Can catch balls thrown outside frame and rarely drops passes that should catch. Has great speed and shows a second gear when tracking the ball downfield. Shows outstanding change of direction skills, has the elusiveness to make multiple defenders miss in the open field and is always a threat to make a big play after the catch. Is a very dangerous return man and should make an immediate impact on special teams. Regained starting job after losing it early last year and has shown good perseverance.

Weaknesses: Is vastly undersized, lacks the height to compete for jump balls downfield and isn't much of a threat in the vertical passing game despite speed. Lacks the wide frame to shield defenders from the ball and isn't much of a red zone target. Has some problems getting a clean release working against press coverage and physical corners will have success muscling him out of routes. Lack of prototypical size makes durability a significant concern and had some problems staying healthy at the collegiate level. Mental capacity a concern; scored a 10 on Wonderlic Test.

Overall: Parrish red-shirted in 2001. He returned punts and started three games at WR in 2002, catching 14 passes for 271 yards and one touchdown. He provided excellent depth and returned punts in 2003, finishing with 24 catches for 322 yards and two touchdowns. He moved into the starting lineup in 2004 and finished the season with 39 receptions for 630 yards and eight touchdowns. Parrish also returned 17 punts for 252 yards and one touchdown last year. Parrish is extremely undersized and, as a result, he may never develop into an outside starter. However, Parrish has the potential to develop into a sure-handed and shifty slot receiver that can also contribute as a punt return specialist. As a result, Parrish grades out as a second or early-third round prospect in the 2005 NFL draft.

I want guys who can play football.... Channing Crowder can play football I'd take him on my team anyday. These guys aren't here to be your best friend just to do their job make plays and collect checks sad but true. Plus I'm not gonna judge a guy I don't know. I'm not fully aware of his personal off the field issues all I know is what I've seen on the field and he's a heck of a football player.

Hell he would be a detriment to the team because everyone on the squad would be worried about their stuff in the locker room during games and practices!!

Willis used to back up Gore. Sounds like he could be amazing like Willis turned out to be.

Good for the niners. They added three quality players through the draft this year. They probably have had the best draft out of anyone. Maybe Dallas is a close second.

Here's his rap sheet. He can't play if he's in jail.

In January 2003, police filed complaints against Crowder and teammates Mo Mitchell and Brian Crum. They were accused of tearing the mirrors off eight cars. Gainesville police officer Carol Davis took the report from a witness and a sworn complaint was filed, which included eight misdemeanor charges with a total damage estimate of $1,200, according to the police report.

The state attorney's office dismissed charges later in the year after state attorney Bill Cervone said investigators were unable to locate the only witness in the case, and there was no forensic evidence to move the case forward.

Prior to the 2003 season, Crowder and a fellow Florida freshman, defensive end Steven Harris, were booked into the Alachua County jail. The incident happened at 2 a.m. on April 13 in the parking lot of The Palace nightclub. Both Crowder and Harris punched and kicked Brian Assent in the head and face, according to the arrest report. Assents' friends brought him to the hospital.

The attack led to "permanent disfigurement," according to the report. Assent, then 22, lost a tooth and had five others loosened. He got a cut on his face that required 11 stitches, along with other cuts and bruises. He told police a few hours later that a few UF football players showed up at The Palace and started causing problems, said Gainesville Police Sgt. Keith Kameg.

When Assent left the nightclub, someone reportedly punched him in the face. He fell, lost consciousness, and didn't remember the rest of the attack. His friends later told him a couple of people kicked him several times and that they might be UF football players, Kameg said. Assent positively identified Crowder and Harris from a photo lineup, according to the report.

The two were arrested at the Springs Complex on the University of Florida campus. Crowder was placed on supervised probation for six months and had to pay $340 in fines and court costs and serve 34 hours of community service. Crowder also was ordered to have no contact with Assent, attend counseling at the university and not to drink alcohol. Florida coach Ron Zook suspended Crowder for the 2003 season opener vs. San Jose State as punishment.

In May 2004, Crowder was arrested again for disorderly conduct outside of the same nightclub. The incident violated his probation from the first incident and he was sentenced to 20 hours of community service. The incident began as Crowder and an unidentified man began shouting at one another. A crowd gathered around the men, drawing the police's attention.

Officer Robert Hager told them to leave, but Crowder stopped in the middle of the street, held up traffic and kept yelling at the other man, according to the report. Seconds later, Crowder began arguing with another man and chased him when he fled. Police caught up to them in the parking lot of another nightclub a few blocks away, and an officer fell trying to apprehend Crowder.

Crowder ran again but stopped when Hager yelled his name. Police say Crowder then refused to put his hands behind his back when they tried to handcuff him. According to the report, Herring "repeatedly interfered" with the officers as they tried to arrest Crowder. They said he refused officers' commands to leave the area.

Crowder was charged with disorderly conduct, and Herring was charged with resisting or obstructing without violence. They were released from the Alachua County Detention Center later Sunday. Zook suspended both for the 2004 Middle Tennessee game as punishment.
