Trent is having no impact, Klein is a major liability and Edmunds continues to be out of position and while he makes plays, it’s typically 5 yards or more downfield. How could Murphy disappoint you? He has been overpaid and underperforming since the day he got here. He is a PED cheat. Did you really think he was going to do better this year?

He has real flaws, but they have no one else, so he’s playing. He is basically a one-armed player right now. Factor that in. bobobonators Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 Id say Oliver. We drafted him high. I wasnt expecting Donald but i was expecting penetration and pressure. Someone to anchor our defense for the next 10yrs. but i feel there are so many holes in this defense its hard to only point one finger
stevestojan Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 I always wondered what it felt like to be a top 5 team in the NFL and still be horribly disappointed after a win. This must have been what it was like on a Pats message board when they only won by 20. Back in the day (every year prior to 2020) when they dominated. The Bills won. 1 1
Ethan in Cleveland Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 Star - There I said it. He is letting his teammates down. I'm a doctor and I know COVID is real. And obese people are at more risk. But NFL players are tested more frequently than the general public. The risk he would have gotten infected from playing football is very very low. He chose the guaranteed money rather than come to camp in shape and ready to win a job. 2

I remember Tony Boselli saying that people think knee injuries force players out of the league more than any other injury, but he said it was cumulative shoulder injuries. They’re not as dramatic because guys with shoulder injuries can gut it out and still play. Shoulder injuries ended Boselli’s career.
ALLEN1QB Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 (edited) I say Hughes. Oliver is still young I expect more from the veteran no excuse. Edited November 2, 2020 by ALLEN1QB
Bermuda Triangle Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 The lack of playmaking and the poor tackling have been the two biggest issues I've had with the defense this year. I wasn't as high as some on the defense last year - we played 8 QBs last year who are no longer starting QBs (Eli, Duck, Mariota, Allen, Dalton, Fitz (x2) and Haskins), hence our inflated rankings. But the play this yea has been worse than I expected. I figured the young guys would improve, and we'd get some production from the Carolina Castoffs (save Klein). 1

Star has dealt with a heart issue few years back which probably was part of the reason for him being overly cautious. He had an issue with his left ventricle not pumping efficiently. 2

Addison, Butler and Jefferson should have offset the losses of Phillips and Lawson. But they have done nothing so far and only Addison seems to make the rare play. Klein is brutal. Matekevich only gets ST duty. Norman is a shell of his old self. Going 0-6 on FA is what is killing this D. this. Klein is clearly out of position and doesn't have the speed to get to the outside. He also doesn't have good tackling skills

Since part of being a physician is understanding that an individual patient's individual medical history affects his individual risk, please excuse me if I say this is highly disappointing to read as written from a self-identified physician. Star had a heart condition causing low ejection volume identified during pre-draft medicals. I don't know the specifics of underlying cause and how it resolved; doubt you do either. A number of these "big guys" may also have issues such as diabetes and/or high blood pressure. We have no business to know that. Lastly you have no idea what his living situation is, what conditions his family members may have etc. Pretty sure Lotulelei's 2020 salary was fully guaranteed, as was $2.5M of his 2021 salary. So attributing a financial motive to his decision is clearly fallacious. 2 1 1

Of course, when you could run a semi untouched thru some of the holes the d-line allows, teams have many choices. 1 1

As well as Edmunds regressing big time, Milano missing time with injuries, and Murphy just being non existent.

So far o-linemen have been getting to the second level regularly.. He’s supposed to be a pass rush specialist but he never gets any pressure... sure as hell cant stop the run! Can’t count how many times Edmunds and Milano have had to eat up OL so Poyer, Hyde and Marlowe can make the tackle.. Poyer is on pace for 130 tackles.. If this continues on our LBs and DBs are going to get hurt.. Oliver is very bad. Read up on Oliver’s NextGen stats. He’s playing very well and winning matchups. 4

97bills Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 I think the hole front 7 is terrible there are running lanes so big we make 2 and 3 string RB look like Barry Sanders. RB are getting 5 yards most of the time before any contact. I could see the 49ers running for 350 yards.

It was always going to be a major concern that a tall, skinny, long levered target was going to be able to protect himself in the middle.........there's a reason why you don't see those in the middle at LB. The fact that he is uninstinctive just adds to the disappointment. I suspect the experiment is over this offseason and he will end up outside next season(again, predictably). The position is too important in the McDefense to have a half-stepping, nail-not-the-hammer player out there getting lost in traffic. 2 2
