This seems like such an obvious move. McCarthy seems to have nothing left and O’Brien is a much better coach.  He and Jerry would probably kill each other, but it seems like the perfect fit.

Interesting take. O'Brian is slightly better than a .500 coach for his career. He did make the playoffs 4 put of his last 6 years but 2 of those berths was after a 9-7 season. So he won double digit games only twice in his 6 year coaching career (2 out of 7 if you count this season) meanwhile McCarthy won double digit games 8 out of his last 13 years. So your opinion of O'Brien being a "much better" coach is a very questionable take.

As far as Jones wanting O'Brien, I don't see that either. Why would he want a .500 career coach who wants to make personel moves? Jerry likes his coaches to be happy that he buys the groceries. Don't see the fit you do. Maybe you can break it down better for us since you decided to start a whole thread about it.

Does it really seem like an obvious move? It never would have occurred to me at all.

O'Brien for McCarthy is akin to being kidnapped and your captor then asking if you'd rather be shot or stabbed...

Well a .500 team in the NFC East is running away with the division right now. And a little better than .500 may have a lock on it lol

McCarthy was a stupid hire. I have no idea what Jones was thinking. He traded a underachieving coach for an underachieving coach. He would have been better off just elevating Kellen Moore, which is what he really wanted to do. At least take a chance

He hired McCarthy because he didnt want to be wrong about Moore, and McCarthy was willing to keep Moore around. For the Cowboys to be this bad with that roster is an incredible achievement actually

The HC didn't put the ball on the carpet twice in the first half.  That was all world Zeke.......I thought the game plan was wrong.  Why change the character of the team....they were a passing team......should have continues.  And, Dalton didn't put up 3 TD's for the Cards either in the first half.
