So lets say the fumble was a fumble and we get it.  Drive down and win the game.  Again, thinking hypothetically and I know it didn't happen.

Would you still feel happy about the win or would you still have deep concerns about our defense getting gashed all night?  Plus, with the inconsistencies on offense two weeks in a row.

Would the win feel flukish to you?

Any of our future opponents that don't run it up our throats, with an RPO sprinkled in here and there to their tight end hasn't been paying attention.

I might add that Norman dropped an easy INT in the 3rd quarter too.  Everything is hindsight.  I had no issues with the game plan on defense.  Only that our offense couldn't deliver.  Frustrating that it always seems to be one side of the ball functioning while the other struggles.  Hopefully. a Jets win cures that...for a little while at least.

You think the D functioned last night?

No. But they weren’t the only reason we lost.

Offense struggled badly.

our punter looked good though😂

Yeah, I wasn't defending our offense.  I'm struggling with the posters that are defending our defense.

No. Same thing w the kick before halftime, we would have been driving for the tying TD and PAT to win

that was how they approached this particular game

Hypothetically speaking the Bills score a go ahead TD but leave enough time on the clock for the Chiefs offense to shred a shoddy Bills defense and score the winning points as the game clock winds down.

Another scenario is what if Bass makes the end of 1st half FG which he missed by a mile and the Chiefs lead 26-20 when the Bills get the ball back late in Q4.  Being down just 6 does the game end differently than the floater from Allen which gets picked?  I note that Hauschka missed 3 end of 1st half FG attempts in games last year too.  All games the Bills lost and all games where those 3 points might have made a difference in the outcome.  So the pattern missing in the clutch half-ending situations continues.

a win is a win. I’d be happy for the moment then back to the grind to figure out what went wrong and how to fix it

It's so annoying seeing everyone fight the hypo...lol.  RWC clearly laid out the parameters by saying that we win the game!!!

Anyways, I think the pessimists on this board would still be ranting about the defense, conservative coaching and the run game sucking.  Optimists would say something like "the sign of an elite team is winning games they had no business winning".  I'd just be happy they found a way to squeak out a win against the SB champs.

I think there was about 5:40 left in the game if that fumble holds up.  I would hope the Bills would try to use as much clock as possible.

This thread is basically if everything goes right...

Ya I know, fair enough.

I think the Bills win the game if Bass makes the kick, Norman holds onto the INT and the fumble holds up.

To be honest, I'm not incredibly disappointed with us having a 2-game losing streak.

We always knew the Titans and Chiefs would be two of our toughest matchups.

I'm more disappointed in our overall play over the last 5 weeks, and not really being competitive in either matchup.

This team succeeded in upgrading its weakest link (the passing game)... but has somehow also managed to regress in literally everything else.

When all things are factored into the equation, this team has not progressed in the last 12 months.  They are still going to beat the bad teams.  They will almost certainly get some victories against the other "Wild Card Level" teams.  And thanks to a very weak AFC East, I could still see us winning 9-10 games and capturing the division title.  But as it stands, this team has absolutely no chance at beating the Chiefs, Ravens, Steelers or Titans in the playoffs.  Which is exactly the place we were in 2019.

Even if the call did hold and we scored a TD, would we actually stop the Chiefs from scoring? There was plenty of time still on the clock.

Thats probably what would have ensued. KC gets the ball back down by one and just drives down to kick a winning FG with no time left as our choke defense collapses.

It would have been a vindication of McD's strategy.

I was kind of upset about it when I heard the presser afterwards. I was thinking, we should just play straight up defense - we shouldn't have respected them that much.

But the strategy DID keep the score down.  And all we needed was one break or stop - the fumble, or Poyer not making that mistake.  It would have been a classic bend/don't break kind of strategy - keep the game close & steal it at the end.

if we would have won then different things would have happened. The defense wouldn't have been getting gashed all night. They would have had to play better to win

3 plays on O that nobody is talking about.

The John Brown drop on 3rd down of 1st drive.  That ball was perfect and woulda moved the chains, maybe we score and get momentum.

The 3rd n 1 and eventual 4th n 1 , which was a false start. If we convert there, same thing , chains move, we possibly score n I feel it would have been a huge momentum changer

Yep, we would have still lost 24-26.

All I was stating is that even as bad as we were playing the defense still had missed opportunities to change this game in our favor. I believe the same with the offense. Some things don’t show up on the stat sheet like the PI calls. Those were positive plays. its never as bad as immediately after the game. I always like to watch the game a second time through after I cool off.

I do think we should have gone for 2 points after the Beasley TD because KC scoring again was inevitable. Meh onto Jets for a convincing win.

Always take the win. But of course you have to be concerned with a run D that was utterly destroyed.

I would still like to hear Fraser's explanation for the horrid calls on 3rd and long, not just in this game but the whole season. I am so close to changing the channel when the Bills defense takes the field.

“3rd and 10. DB should be 15 yards back.”
