Yes and No, basically by playing a let them run bend don't break game you basically limit yourself to 7-8 possessions which might deflate KC's scoring but it also puts immense pressure on your offense. McD gambled that Josh and the running game could score at least 3 on about every drive. Given that KC probably given 7-8 possessions can still score well into the 20's you basically need 3 points on average every time out from your offense just to keep it close.

I think you are better off trying to play aggressive on defense and force sack/turnovers as opposed to hoping they eat away at the clock and you can hold them to field goals?

No...when our offense is on the field we need to sustain drives and score touchdowns.  We didn't do that part.

That is correct.  But all offenses get 3 and outs.  The correct thing when an offense gets a 3 and out, is for the D to get a 3 and out or 6 and out and give the offense the ball back to try again.  We didn't do that part.

Look at the Raiders game.  They punted after 3 and 5 plays in the 3Q.  Difference is, their D got them the ball right back

LV punt...KC punt...LV punt....KC punt...LV TD....KC punt

He did...but they were short receptions.  We kept our safeties deep to protect against the big play.  That made KC have to sustain long drives.  That strategy works if you can do likewise.  We didn't.  So instead of matching them TD for TD, we came up 9 pts short.

In the first half it worked. The team was a Bass miss from being tied or down 1 (if KC makes their Extra point.) Hell the defense even stopped KC when they got the ball to start the half. It was the two punts in Q3 that killed the team's chances. Hell if that fumble stood the team would have had the ball deep in KC territory down 6 with about 5 minutes left in the game.

Okay. so the Chiefs have been gashing you for 7 8 10 15 yard runs all game long.

now all of the sudden the start using play action and your LBs and safeties are going top bite at that and guess what The Chiefs offense is still on the field.

McD better be careful. I'm sure his locker room schtick is getting tiresome.

What, they might not trust the "process" anymore?  Come on man!

We tried to force a power run game up the gut with singletary for 2 1/2 quarters

Totally agree.  That's what I mean when I say our defense played horrid.  They made KC run the football.  Unfortunately it didn't stop until they were in the end zone.  We had the right blueprint...just the wrong builders.

Bills gameplan.

Let them run for 7-9 yards per carry.

Bills players: wont they score though?

Coaches: Most likely, but as long as they don't get passing touchdowns its a win.

Fair.  The right blueprint, poor execution.

But they didn't do that.  They didn't have to because at no point was our defense able to stop the gashing.  No one is claiming our defense played well.  The OP pointed out that the strategy of forcing KC to run the ball limited them to less than their usual 30 pts.  A good defense would have been able to get off the field on third down and limit them even further.

Keep the Chiefs running and keep their score low. They did everything they wanted and we had the ball with a chance to get a lead in the 4th.

Also said if we had any run game we probably win that game.

I thought he had a good point.

Yup.  All you have to do is run sprinklers to keep everything wet.

If we can block, allow him some time or maybe even run the ball a little, we have a shot.

Allen wasn’t good by any means, but if he had better opportunities it might have ended differently. We lost that game largely on the line of scrimmage. That’s where games are won and lost.

Agree, we got killed at the los on both sides of the ball

They scored 26 on a s*** weather night with a missed XP.

lets not act like they held them to some magical under 15 points.

The gameplan to let the Chiefs run all over you and keep an electric offense on the field as long as possible is an awful game plan no matter how you spin it.

We probably did create the blueprint.  Just like we created the blueprint for Lamar.  We just couldn't get it done.

I love Josh Allen but this one is on his ego.  You don't try to comple 30, 40, 50 yard bombs in those weather conditions regardless of the other QB challenging your arm.  Especially when he says the furthest he can throw is 83 and you threw 85 at your proday.

You are rarely going to force a third down when you give up 6 yards per carry.....

It was a rainy cold day. They were running it at will down our throats.

if we were scoring on offense they wouldve been forced to air it out. And guess what? They wouldve been successful at that too. When they needed to make big 3rd down conversions in the air they did.

There was no blueprint today. They dictated the game to us, not the other way around.

That's an average.  We got them to a number of third and longs.  Then we gave up the first down.😔  We did not play well.
