Democrats' 2024 Platform — Your Reality Is Wrong, Stupid Voters

STEPHEN KRUISER

“It’s not just the sobering reality of Biden’s behavior that the public is being told to ignore, it’s the harsh reality of the consequences of his policies too.”

Oh look, Wall Street Silver’s mask is slipping a little with the great replacement “white are being replaced and the west is falling” nonsense

Transcript of the ad: "Nearly 250 years ago America was founded in defiance of a king under the belief that no one is above the law, not even the President. Until now. The same Trump Supreme Court that overturned Roe v. Wade ruled that the President can ignore the law even to commit a crime because Donald Trump asked them to. He's already led an insurrection and threatened to be a dictator on Day One. Donald Trump can never hold this office again."

But the Supreme Court didn't say "the President can ignore the law." The Biden Administration just got hemmed in by law — the law that prevents it from criminally prosecuting the former President, waging lawfare to fight a political rival. And the Supreme Court only protected the President from criminal prosecution for his official acts. Where the President violates the law, he's subject to impeachment. You can't impeach a King.

And it's funny how that ad refers to revolution twice, first to uphold it as a glorious ideal — "America was founded in defiance of a king" — and then to denounce it — "He's already led an insurrection." But the ad isn't about coherence. It's a montage of fear.

HMM: While Union Leaders Line Up for Biden, Trump Has Backing of the Rank and File.

Give President Biden the union elites, while President Trump takes the rank and file.

Mr. Biden met with the AFL-CIO union leaders Wednesday, repeating his boast that he’s the most pro-union President in American history. So you say, Mr. Biden, but we shall see.

In fact, while the liberal, left-wing union leaders are lining up for Mr. Biden, you can bet that Trump is going to take a record share of the rank and file.

Actually, the Teamsters president, Sean O’Brien, plans to speak at the Republican National Convention at Milwaukee next week.

He’s got 1.3 million members, and I’m going to guess Trump is going to win a big majority of that group.

Here’s what’s bothering the Teamsters and the rank and file of the other unions as well: Mr. Biden has created an affordability crisis for working families.

For whatever they’re worth, polls showed that traditionally Democrat union guys who voted for Trump in 2016 “came home” for Biden four years later — an expensive mistake they’re unlikely to make again.

OK, not the Teamster; the UAW.

But with Biden behind the Unions bigly, here's the contract the UAW signed with the "U.S." Big Three (Stellantis is only honorary U.S. at this point):

The UAW contracts include raises of at least 25 percent for the highest-paid workers, to more than $40 an hour, and even bigger gains of up to 160 percent for the lowest-paid, who will also reach more than $40 an hour by the end of the contract.

The deals come after a long period of worker wages not keeping up with inflation, and after the union gave up some of its benefits around the time of the Great Recession, when the automakers were struggling to survive. The union managed to claw back many of those perks in the new deals, including restoring regular cost-of-living wage adjustments to offset inflation. And it fought to reopen a large Stellantis factory in Belvidere, Ill., in a rare reversal of the plant closings that have harmed industrial communities for decades.

“These were just extraordinary wins, especially for those of us who’ve been studying strikes for decades,” said Jake Rosenfeld, a sociology professor and labor expert at Washington University in St. Louis.

40 bucks an hour = $80,000 + per year. Plus good benefits.

So the Republican Convention is in the near-sh!thole city of Milwaukee, a somewhat more prosperous Buffalo (thanks for the compliment, Donald).

The average home price in Milwaukee? $209,000.

Can you afford that on an $80,000 salary?

Yeah. Easily. $1266/month for principal and interest. Sure, insurance ain't cheap. But still ... affordable.

Maybe your spouse works there too: $160,000. Or is a teacher: $40,000 - $82,000 a year, so $120,000 - 164,000 for the household.

Stop whining. The sh!thole cities of America are cheap. That's what you'll find in WI, MI, PA, WNY. Not exactly garden spots.

Go ahead Union workers, and forget what side your bread is buttered on. You got a helluva deal. Elect Trump and get a whole new NLRB, with a Supreme Court that eventually says the NLRB is unconstitutional and can be ignored.

[I'm not saying this kind of union deal is a good thing from an overall economic standpoint. In fact, the next recession will probably send all 3 into bankruptcy and void the contracts. But for now, enjoy the spoils of a Democratic pro-union administration ...]

Leading Companies Announcing Layoffs And Hiring Freezes in 2024 | Intellizence

DETROIT (AP) — Last fall’s contentious United Auto Workers’ strike changed Ford’s relationship with the union to the point where it will “think carefully” about where it builds future vehicles, Ford’s top executive said Thursday.

CEO Jim Farley told the Wolfe Research Global Auto Conference in New York that the company always took pride in its relationship with the UAW, having avoided strikes since the 1970s.

But last year, Ford’s highly profitable factory in Louisville, Kentucky, was the first truck plant that the UAW shut down with a strike.

Farley said as the company looks at the transition from internal combustion to electric vehicles, “we have to think carefully about our (manufacturing) footprint.”

The Biden administration announced $1.7 billion to convert endangered or shuttered plants into electric vehicle manufacturing facilities.

Eleven auto factories across eight states that are currently closed or at risk of closing will receive the funding in order to retrofit their operations for EV manufacturing, administration officials said in a call with reporters. The types of goods these factories will produce run the gamut from “parts for electric motorcycles and school buses, hybrid powertrains, heavy-duty commercial truck batteries, and electric SUVs,” the White House says.
