Showtime is bringing back the series. A 10 episode run should be ready for fall 2021. Can't wait to see how they bring it back.

After one of the worst series finales in the history of television, I’m not on board at all. If word of mouth says to give it a try, I might be persuaded.

Yeah the finale and pretty much all of season 8 was a huge disappointment. Might even say the last couple or three seasons were weak. But it did set up for bringing it back at a later date.

Quite a few. I can't seem to get the hang of the search function but there was a thread dedicated to Dexter back in the day.

So as to not provide any spoilers, I assume one character will be missing which was about 1/2 the reason to watch the show.

I am in season 5 (I think) of the original dexter. It’s a great show but I did like some of the earlier seasons better. I’m going to eventually finish watching the original and then I’ll probably check out one of the new episodes.

Agreed to the "one of the worst series finales". He was such a unique television character I am looking forward to it. Something to look forward to.

I stopped watching the show after Season 4 with John Lithgow because I couldn't imagine it living up to that level of excellence again.

Judging by some of the comments here, it looks like I made a wise choice.

I enjoyed every season until the last one.  That finale was awful.  Wouldn't mind trying this one out.  That would be awesome if they could bring back the whole cast after all this time.  Rita's kids are probably, what, adults now?

Am definitely intrigued by the possibility of reviving it.  The question is, will it be the well written version that ran most of the series or the continuation of the schlock that was the final season?

 

Don't have Showtime, so will likely pick up the DVD after its run if the reviews are good.

 

Guessing Deb will take on Harry's role.  Which could be an interesting twist.
