Before the season started, if you were told the Bills would be 5-2 and up next is New England wouldn't you be looking at the team in a positive light?  Tough schedule and we knew we're going to drop some.   Losing sucks and we see all of the flaws with the team when it happens.  I said it before the season and I still see it now that this is not a Superbowl team this year but next year could be and seeing the progression of JA gives me hope.  We are a good team that is riding on JA's back and he can win us a lot of games (he's not perfect but he's our guy and can carry the team).  Nobody thought our D was going to drop off like it has but McD & Beane will take care of it and emphasis will be on it by next season. Now get healthy & fix that D soon, please!!

Go Bills!!!

I will talk about the Bills Record after 7 games after 7 games.

Right now they are 4-1 after 5 games, Leading the AFCE and have a very high powered offense.  And Many if not all would have accepted a 4-1 record after 5 games.

Hmm, they are the ones who wiffed on it this past offseason though... Granted, they had to deal with two retirements and an opt out.

And don't look for much help in FA next offseason, considering the drop in the salary cap to $175mil. We're going to be losing talent, not gaining it. But luckily everybody else will be, too.

I had us going 4-1, but I had us losing to Vegas and winning against the Titans. But that was a little biased. I just WANTED the win against the Titans because I don't like them and I don't like Tannehill.

See I also had them 4-1 losing to the Rams, while winning against the Titans.  Hurts just a bit more that the win loss came to an AFC team over an NFC team, but doubt it hurts playoff push.

Beane has lost his magic touch in terms of picking up DL free agents who can play. What happens when we are on Allen’s second contract and there is no money at all.

OR.  DL is mitigated greatly because the NFL stopped calling holding calls this year.

I just thought the Raiders would be a sneaky team to come in and hand us a loss (and they showed they can do that with their win over the Chiefs). And I felt like we could match up well with the Rams, especially if we could get after Goff, which we didn't.

It will be an interesting season. You always win some and lose some you don't expect.

Yep and I would not be surprised if this loss sticks in the stomach of this Bills team and Coaching staff and McD has them fired up to hand his mentor a loss.  And WHO would have thought at the Beginning of this season that Bills could hand KC a loss.

I picked us to win against KC. I thought it was going to be another game like the Dallas Thanksgiving game where our team comes into primetime fired up, with an elite defense.

But... not sure how our defense can handle the Chiefs now. They certainly are not elite anymore. I expect a loss, but we'll see. We've seen McDermott shore up the defense after a big loss in the past.

Well they haven't yet and will be facing an equally fired up team.  Going to be a big huge test.

Drop 8, Rush 3 plug up the passing lanes and DARE the chiefs to take it out of Mahomes hands and put it in CEH hands to win, just like the Raiders did.

Well we are in a thread talking about a week 7 record.

I'm ok with our current record and if they get to 5-2 after 7 games that's great.  I think the concerning thing from last night (and also weeks 2-4 that were "hidden" due to our offensive performances and winning) is just how bad our D can be.  That, for me, is what gives me the most trepidation about getting too excited for the remainder of the season.  We have some very good offenses to play left on the schedule so, while 5-2 at this point would be nice, last night planted a little seed of doubt for me that we can make any noise down the stretch and/or in the playoffs if we can get there.

Then why has the Bills D fallen so far in the rankings? Should be a relative decline, correct?

Well lets see how many games has this defense been completely healthy, sorry cannot compare a healthy team getting TOs, to a banged up team not.  Doesnt work that way.

Certainly a big component. Good call.

Last year the Chiefs lost four games between weeks five and ten. Did they fire everyone, get rid of players and bring in others?

Stay calm and right the ship.

I bet a lot of other defenses are "banged up" as well though?

Yep and alot of other Defenses are not good this year either.

A positive way to look at it...

If the refs didn't call the PI on Rams at end of game (which was a very questionable call), Bills would have lost, then we would have needed to beat Tenn to get to 4-1.

...Well, the Bills are 4-1, so no harm done.

Get healthy this week (Tre, Brown, Spain, Moss).

Big time HOME game. Like it....

Right, but, relative to the rest of the defenses in the league, the Bills are performing much worse than last season in relation to said defenses (like 15 spots in the rankings). This cannot be just due to holding penalties and injuries (which every team deals with). So, something else is amiss...

Yeah could be that their CB1, CB2, CB3 havent played together yet

MLB and WLB have played together healthy 2 games

Their DT2 is not even a full year back from his leg injury

and Everyone is a year older.

We need to focus on playing the Chiefs and beating them at their game. Also let’s remember if we win 80% of our games that puts us above Belichickian levels. We won’t do that and historically you’ll never be able to maintain a 100% winning percentage. The Bills will be fine, and we will find a way to run the ball and play better D.
