Please tightly restrict conversation in this thread to football and football-relevant matters.

Two Bills Drive no longer finds it appropriate to engage in COVID-19 discussion in our main discussion areas. (This includes your opinion about the incubation/infectious period, interval before a positive test, and infection control measures the NFL should employ, and this means YOU.) We are a Buffalo Bills fan community and we exist to serve fans of the Buffalo Bills and the NFL. Please use other communities and venues to discuss heath-related topics including COVID-19.

Information about COVID-19 is available from many globally respected sources including:

Uptodate     |  British Medical Journal Best Practice   |      COVIPENDIUM    |    Our world in Data

The pinned topic: COVID-19 - Facts and Information Only Topic, located on the Off the Wall subforum, is also a resource.   Should these not meet your needs, many other sources of information (of varied accuracy) exist.

Thank you!

I'm pretty sure there is a waiting period on signing new players.  Cuz, you know, Covid protocols?  I'm 100% sure a virus screening is required procedure before letting any new player through your doors, like comon think about it for two seconds.

Also can anyone save me 22 pages of scanning and tell me if anyone knows the circumstances around Newton getting it?  I absolutely wouldn't be surprised to hear that he was out partying or something.

Nobody knows yet, but my suspicion is he got it trying on scarves at the Ann Taylor outlet.

There have not been any reports, yet, on how Cam may have contracted the virus. Anything out there is speculation at this point. It is mind boggling to me how such a high-profile, experienced QB1 caught it at this point.

If all it takes is one player to postpone a game, if I have a star player who needs a couple extra days in order to play, I’d sign literally anyone with COVID to the team.  Automatic 2 day reprieve.

No, it isn’t. It would have to be a road game, to be postponed first of all. Secondly, you can’t sign someone off of the Covid reserve list.

Something sheer and fashionable to use as a face covering I'm sure, because standard masks are SO last season.

If I was a professional athlete making millions (especially if I was a household name starting for a premiere team), I would be on a self imposed ZERO CONTACT WITH THE OUTSIDE WORLD FOR THE LOVE OF ALL YOU FIND HOLY STAY AWAY FROM ME DON'T RUIN THIS FOR ME protocol outside of required team activities.  Even when I'm at work there's a mask on and a bottle of sanitizer on my person at all times unless I'm in action on the field.

But you know for Cam, divas gotta diva.

People all make decisions on what contact with others is safe.  We all are doing it.  Who knows.  Could have been a friend or family member deemed safe.

If it really ends up being just Cam, then isn’t he supposed to be fined or investigated for not SD?

No. The team can discipline him if he violated protocol but as of now that hasn’t been reported that he did

I still elbow bump my own mother rather than hug, and limit unnecessary exposure to even family.  We also all have the contact tracing app on our phones.

Could in theory have gotten it anywhere by fluke chance.  But knowing Cam it was probably something stupid.

We all know Belichick wouldn't come down on Cam like that,  or let it be reported.  I bet he has a contingency plan to infect a volunteer should he want a game to be delayed.

Why do I feel like this is a Belicheat scam

Not sure why he would want to play the best team in the league without his starting QB and then have a short week to prepare for the next opponent.

There's a very real chance Cam misses the next game too.

But I can see some tin foil hatter making the claim that Bill figured they were probably going to lose to the Chiefs anyways, and wouldn't need Cam against Denver backups, thus 4D chess.

While I don't agree that all teams need to go into a bubble, I do agree that with the schedule as it is now the season has 0 chance of finishing. The NFL ****ed up big time by not giving teams multiple bye weeks to allow for flexibility when games need to be rescheduled. This was so easy to see coming.

Totally disagree - why do you assume they don’t have plans?  They talked prior to the season that they have flexibility- including adjusting the Super Bowl.  Just because they have not announced all of their plans to you - does not mean they do not have plans.  Jerry Jones talked on air last week about fining teams and taking draft picks and that prior to the season the owners had discussed multiple scenarios, but they were not baking them in automatically- the plan was to try and keep it is normal as possible and adjust as needed.

Talking scientific with no political intent. How in the world does a very outgoing QB1 get it, practice with his team all week and not spread it to anyone else? It seriously makes no scientific sense. The players are not wearing masks on the field. Presuming they huddle in practice. Presuming the quarterback "room" is indeed a room. Presuming he has long conversations with his coaches while Hoyer is right next to him. Presuming he meets with his WRs. If the team is taking such great caution in their practices and meetings throughout the week, I think they owe it to the rest of the league to say how they did so well.

you have no idea who else has it on the patriots roster

its only been a couple of days. look at the titans, they are getting new positives every day for the last week

What is the benefit here though? And why and how? All the tests go to the league.

The benefit is clearly that all of the Pats tin foil hat conspiracy theorists can offer inane perspectives on the topic. Duh!
