Please keep discussion in this thread narrowly focused on football and directly football-related issues.

Two Bills Drive no longer finds it appropriate to engage in COVID-19 discussion in our main discussion areas. We are a Buffalo Bills fan community and we exist to serve fans of the Buffalo Bills and the NFL. Please use other communities and venues to discuss heath-related topics including COVID-19.

Information about COVID-19 is available from many globally respected sources including:

Uptodate     |  British Medical Journal Best Practice   |      COVIPENDIUM    |    Our world in Data

The pinned topic: COVID-19 - Facts and Information Only Topic, located on the Off the Wall subforum, is also a resource.   Should these not meet your needs, many other sources of information (of varied accuracy) exist.

Thank you!

I suppose they could consider pushing the Bills-Titans to Monday or Tuesday....

but the Bills-Chiefs is scheduled to be on that upcoming Thursday.  You obviously can't play with two days rest.

Considering it was their own negligence that led to this, I believe this may actually be considered.

On a positive note an early bye week is beneficial to us this year.

Can it really be proven it was "negligence" that led to this? It's an airborne disease that spreads pretty easily. Folks that get it shouldnt be vilified for having it.

It's not like the NFL is bubbling or doing anything remotely close. Breaches like this HAD to be expected.

That said, I think the Titans should be forced to forfeit our game anyways. Thems the breaks of playing during a pandemic.

Could they move our Chiefs game to Sunday?

Titans move to Tuesday, Chiefs to a normal Sunday.

Apparently a practice squad player tested positive. A coach who had interacted with him then spoke to his players in a room without wearing a mask. It's one thing for a single person to get it but there are protocols in place to stop an outbreak and in this case they weren't followed.

I'll take the win!

Because the telecast of the Thursday games belong to the NFL, that seems possible.  If it belonged to Fox or CBS or ESPN, there might have been real heartburn.

To carry the discussion over from the closed duplicate thread...

The teams all signed up for a "season at risk". Having a team (even ours) forced to play with backups, or even forced to forfeit a game, is part of the territory. No one in the NFL should be surprised if it gets to that point.

We wouldnt like it if it happened to us, but thems the breaks in 2020.

To be clear, by forfeit, you are suggesting it counts as a loss for the Titans and a win for their opponent, correct?

If so, I stand by my previous post...not going to happen.

I agree it is extremely unlikely, and would be an absolute last resort for the league. Just saying, nothing is out of the question for this season.

There's definitely 'an issue' with the Bills game on that following Sunday. Without knowing the minutiae of the NFL protocols, the reality is that any positive tests occurring with  just over a week to go to a game, is something to be concerned about.

Hopefully the new positives are within a group that should have been self isolating, since the whole thing with the Titans started.

If there's any 'spillover', then the Titans, and consequently the NFL, have a lot more problems to resolve, especially as regards scheduling.

About the only things they can realistically do, is reschedule for the Monay or Tuesday, assuming no further infections, and then push the Chiefs game back to Sunday.

Alternatively try and find another space for the game to be played later in the year, and cancel it from the original date.

From the financial standpoint, the latter option would be their best bet, as they almost certainly do not want to have no Thursday Night game, as that would cost them.

Although if the Thursday Night game is their own exclusive game hen as someone has just said as I was posting, that may make that a more viable option.

Right. We already knew, going into this season, that it just wasn't going to be "fair" for some teams.  Hopefully there isn't a lot more of this (remember how baseball's season started out, and then calmed down), but if nothing else, it will serve as a reminder that this pandemic thing isn't really over yet, even if people want to act as if it is.

Negative. Bills ply KC that Thursday.

Raiders act like butt heads as an organization but we are talking about whether the Titans should forfeit to prove a point.

Wild time to be alive. Haha

Hopefully ? that IS what the Titans players and coaches are doing. They have been isolated since Monday. Hence why these new positives shouldnt effect the game with the Bills - other than those positive players not playing.

Do we have a list of the players that have tested positive?

The Titans placed cornerback Kristian Fulton on the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday.

That brings the total to a combined 13 players and team personnel who have tested positive for the Titans this week.

The league should have made the season longer this year. Several ways they could have done it with an extra bye for each team, a whole week off where teams with re-scheduled games play like in late november/december. Expecting to go through the season without having this happen was silly.

It would’ve made a lot more sense to have done that so that they could squeeze these games in on two bye weeks. instead of adding a week at the end we’re trying to squeeze these games in with limited time between games that could create even more of an injury situation. Not really sure why they didn’t do it, but I’m sure there was the reason is it’s just too logical to think they completely missed that.

They still easily can though?

Yep.  Rescheduling games is much easier, where there are no fans involved.
