oldmanfan Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 I just heard Dungy say Josh should not have made the throw to Kroft on the INT play. Seen others here say the same. Why? He hit him right in the hands and we all think it was a completion. Why should he not make a throw like that? 11 2
Joe Ferguson Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 Because it's a low percentage pass. It could have easily been intercepted and Kroft had to push off just to get a chance to get the ball. 3 1
Ethan in Cleveland Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 It was a desperation heave and he would not have caught it if he did not shove the DB in the back. 2

B/c they knew that if Kroft caught the ball the refs would rule it an INT no matter what. 1 2
oldmanfan Posted September 28, 2020 Author Posted September 28, 2020 Well Ok it was offensive PI but he gives his guy a chance to make a play. 1
LeviF Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 It’s a low percentage throw and it was on first down iirc. When you’re up by 18 playing a high powered offense you can toss it away and live to see another day. Throw downfield yes but don’t heave up prayers to JAG tight ends. 4
MJS Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 He was double covered. Josh should have just thrown it away. 7
TBBills Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 Just now, MJS said: He was double covered. Josh should have just thrown it away. Nah Kroft made the catch NP.

Kroft barely touched the guy. But I guess when they see hands on the defender they call it, even though Kroft did not appear to push off to me. But it still wasn't a smart throw. 3
JohnNord Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 I think given the situation, it’s a pass that didn’t need to be thrown
BillsFanNC Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 I'll advised throw. Awful call on INT. On that I think the vast majority can agree. 3
Inigo Montoya Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 It was an incredible throw and a great catch with a horrible pass interference call and a Biblically bad ruling on the INT. I won't fault Allen or Kroft on that play. The refs screwed up twice on that play. Josh was still playing aggressively with the lead trying to put them away, just like everyone on here wants him to. It was a great play and cosmically bad officiating. 10 1 1
EmotionallyUnstable Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 If it was DiMarco, we’d be having this conversation. With Kroft and his size, I don’t mind it. Stupid stupid stupid call. Not the best decision, but how long have we been banging the table for a QB to trust his WRs and put the ball in a spot for them to make a play? 4 2 2

Allen completed one to Diggs today when he was double covered, his arm strength allows such passes to be completed. It was a jump ball, though. He just threw it up there. I was afraid it would get intercepted as soon as he threw it. 1 minute ago, EmotionallyUnstable said: If it was DiMarco, we’d be having this conversation. With Kroft and his size, I don’t mind it. Tyrod would have been brutal this game. 1
dlonce Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 No problem for me with the throw. People here have been bitching about not throwing up contested balls and having faith in your receiver. That’s what good QBs do. Getting conservative isn’t a wise choice against a team that can score in bunches. It was a completion and they were screwed by a ref/ NY that was trying to get a more competitive game going. 2
Rc2catch Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 I think what we’re disagreeing on here is.... It was a good throw but a BAD DECISION. The smart play is to throw it away and regroup. 1
LeviF Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 2 minutes ago, Gene1973 said: Yes, but sometimes QB's throw jump balls and expect their guy to come down with the ball. Risky throw, but IMO it worked. It's just that the officials botched the hell out of that play. Allen is going to make more risky throws this season, it's who he is. I have no problem with jump balls in general. Maybe I should defer to Allen but Kroft to me doesn’t strike me as a “trust him to come down with it” kind of player. Then again, he did come down with it. But just looking at how Allen threw the ball it was reminiscent of the 2018 Josh “doing too much” that we simultaneously love and hate.

Between our game announcers and these goofballs I would rather eat sand and watch a bowl of gold fish swim in a bowl for 4 hours.
