GunnerBill Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 I've just found the negative. He kinda stumbled over his words when breaking down the huddle in the locker room after. Gotta get better at that. C+. 2 1
H2o Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 Isn't it amazing how all the local trolls just magically disappear as this team keeps winning and Josh keeps lighting teams up? 3 2 1

Russ has cooled off a touch the last four weeks, Rodgers has been efficient but not spectacular, Mahomes is Mahomes and maybe we are so used to it that we take his play for granted a little but Josh is right there. If Wilson finishes strong he will win it. But Josh is a legitimate MVP contender. 1

Heck, the trolls STILL come out of the woodworks every time this team loses a game or Josh isn't perfect. The clowns with microphones in front of them still spit the same tired rhetoric about his game in many instances while trying to downplay his accomplishments as fluke at times. Last night was 80%, but he's at almost 70% for the entirety of 12 games this season and that's even with mixing in a couple of duds. The kid is a monster, a LEGITIMATE MVP candidate, and he's getting better right before our very eyes. 1

Now you love him We get it, you're starving for attention and don't always get it. The thread is only misleading if you're an idiot. The very first words in the title indicate that this thread is about Allen's 2020 season as a whole. That other poster posts weekly threads detailing the stats of each game. Stop your whining and either avoid posting in this thread or participate in dialogue. Edited December 8, 2020 by transplantbillsfan 2 1 1
SlimShady'sSpaceForce Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 Your stats make Josh look less than what he is. that is the point. Oh and did you mean Like the attention you seek here?

Oh and did you mean Like the attention you seek here? How do they make him look like less than what he is? The thread title is precisely what he is this season. Would you not want a QB like the one identified statistically in the thread title for the season? I think it defines him pretty well. Fantastic production and accuracy with the only knock being that he could potentially do a bit better taking care of the football. You go talk in other threads about your weekly highs and lows, I care about whether we have our next Jim Kelly... and right now I'd say we do, barring injury. transplantbillsfan Posted December 8, 2020 Author Posted December 8, 2020 My bad on the Jim Kelly record breaking thing... for the last few weeks they've been advertising the number and I thought it was a different number. Just looked it up and it was 34 in 1991. Let's hope Allen breaks that in SNF at home against the Steelers in another fantastic primetime game!

transplantbillsfan Posted December 9, 2020 Author Posted December 9, 2020 https://theathletic.com/2246422/2020/12/08/bills-49ers-observations-josh-allen/ Josh Allen’s best game should have the Bills thinking bigger: 7 observations 1) Allen was every bit of the X-factor the Bills needed This game featured a classic Bills script under coach Sean McDermott. The Bills opened as favorites over 5-6 San Francisco, but so much came in on the 49ers that the Bills were the betting underdogs by kickoff. This Bills team, unlike any other I’ve covered over the last decade, thrives on getting counted out by the masses, and Allen especially. For many around the country who hadn’t seen Allen since Thanksgiving of last year, he showed them how much he’s improved in his third season. Allen was electric from the start of the game to his fourth-quarter touchdown pass to rookie receiver Gabriel Davis. Allen was reading the defense, checking in and out of plays based on what they were showing him and finding coverage lapses all over the field. The accuracy, the arm strength and the anticipation on throws were all next-level. The Bills easily could have crumbled after getting stood up at the goal line on their first drive, making a goal-line stand of their own and surrendering a touchdown after a fumble set the 49ers up just a few yards out from the end zone. Allen didn’t let that happen. He engineered a 77-yard touchdown drive on five plays on the next drive to tie the game. From there, the Bills didn’t look back. Allen racked up 375 passing yards, four touchdowns and an 86 percent adjusted completion rate within the first 51 minutes of the game. The 49ers had the core players of their impressive linebacker and secondary units available for the matchup. It was the same defense that stymied the Rams last week. Given the opponent, audience and level of performance, this was easily the most impressive showing of Allen’s career. If Allen is capable of these types of performances against good teams, there isn’t a goal that is too high for the Bills this season. With how much Allen continues to improve and how he’s shown he can beat any defensive approach, the Bills might have a quarterback who can change the course of the franchise for years to come. 2) Forget establishing the run: Let Allen Throw After the bye, McDermott made it a priority to get the rushing attack in order. The Bills moved the ball effectively against the Chargers, but it seemed to come at the cost of their passing game. The pass-blocking unit never got into a rhythm. Allen looked as out-of-sync as he had the entire season and flirted with some reckless play. It’s become clear the Bills aren’t going to fulfill their potential this season if the rushing game is what’s leading the way. It shouldn’t be close to a 50-50 split, either. After losing one fumble at the goal line, and nearly another one, to begin the game, the Bills finally committed to their offensive identity against the 49ers. They need to let Allen, Stefon Diggs, Cole Beasley and the rest of the receiving cast lead the way until teams start defending them and opening up room for their running backs, like the Bills did against the Chiefs in Week 6. Allen and his receivers have shown they can beat any type of defensive approach thrown at them. Zone coverage? Allen forced both the zone-heavy Seahawks and 49ers to abandon that. Man coverage? The Dolphins in Week 2 learned that didn’t work. Zero-blitzes, delayed blitzes and bracketed receivers? Allen has plotted his way through all of them, and if he didn’t do so one week, he corrected it for the next. It’s why the Bills need to lean on Allen’s passing abilities the rest of the season, as they did Monday. 2 1
folz Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 (edited) I just thought that I would throw in the current ranking of Josh's completion % as well. Through Week 13... Josh is ranked 5th in completion percentage for passers with more than 10 passing attempts on the year (which eliminates WRs and backup QBs who have thrown only a couple of balls all season) Josh is ranked 4th in completion percentage for passers with more than 82 attempts (eliminating Taysom Hill who has 347 attempts less than Josh and 355 attempts less than Russell, so Hill isn't really a fair comparison). So this would be the Top Five (under the attempts limitations): 1. Drew Brees 0.735 (on 130 attempts less than Josh) 2. Teddy Bridgewater 0.702 (on 62 attempts less than Josh) 3. Russell Wilson 0.700 (on 8 attempts more than Josh) 4. Josh Allen 0.699 5. Aaron Rodgers 0.689 (on 13 attempts less than Josh) Of the 15 QBs with more than 3,000 yards on the year, Josh is 2nd in completion percentage---only one thousandth of a point behind Wilson and a tenth of a point ahead of Rodgers. Actually, Josh's and Russell's stat line for the year to this point is amazingly similar: Player Att Cmp Cmp% Yards Yds/Att Rush Yds Total TDs INT Fmb QB rate Russell Wilson 436 305 0.700 3,479 8 424 33 11 7 107.6 Josh Allen 428 299 0.699 3,403 8 322 32 8 7 105.9 Edited December 10, 2020 by folz 1
transplantbillsfan Posted December 14, 2020 Author Posted December 14, 2020 I love that we've now had 2 extremely solid Primetime games from Allen. And now I can say that Allen broke JK's single season TD record for the team!!! The stats tonight weren't spectacular, but that's a spectacular D he just beat. And he was better than the 1st ballot HOFer opposite him. And honestly, as spectacular as Allen has been this year, Diggs is 1B as far as MVP for this team goes. What a move by Beane! And finally... from da man himself: 1 6
