billsbackto81 Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 " Give me 18 inches of daylight, that's all I need!" RIP Gayle. Your entire career was a highlight film. 🙏
SoCal Deek Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 I honestly thought he'd passed away years ago. Sad.
LB48 Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 A gentlemen and a great player. His type of NFL personalities are missed.
klos63 Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 The one NFL player that I always wished I had seen play live. 1
machine gun kelly Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 They talked a lot today about who Sayers was closer to as a player and one caller stated OJ. That’s who I thought of p, amd unfortunately I was not old enough to ever see Gayle live and missed some of the early years for OJ, but watching the films they had that slide to them and long stride. They both looked like men playing against boys.

Sayers was slicker and shiftier and could change direction quicker and in tighter spaces. He was incredible at that. Going one way and in one step off to another without losing much speed. OJ was huge for the era and more powerful, and probably faster but Sayers was fast and probably quicker. Both obviously fantastic talents. Both cut short from injury although Gale was a little earlier in career. 1
JakeFrommStateFarm Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 RIP Mr Sayers. Your movie with Brian Piccolo was very sad
Chandler#81 Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 With the passing of the Comet and Sir Walter, there’s only one legendary Bear RB remaining. 4 TDs in ONE GAME! Al Bundy!
Kirby Jackson Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 (edited) I had the chance to spend quite a bit of time with Marv Levy when he was the GM. Me: Who is the best player ever? Marv (immediately): Gayle Sayers Me: Do you want to think about that for a second? Marv: No, it’s Gayle Sayers That’s good enough for me Edited September 24, 2020 by Kirby Jackson 1
