But they usually have a handful of franchise regulars who stick with the team a long time on both sides of the ball. Good point. If they had a franchise QB that would be one. If this was 2018 we would say Kyle is that guy. Hopefully in 2022 we will be saying Allen, Edmunds, and White are those core guys.
BillsPride12 Posted September 9, 2020 Posted September 9, 2020 I remember how butt hurt some fans were when McDermott and Beane parted ways with Sammy Watkins and Marcel Dareus in their first year here...I love the way they revamped this roster with guys who love the game and have football character(I know, I know cliche lol)

I remember people being ecstatic about Dareus. By that time Watkins had a lot of detractors because he could never stay healthy, but yeah there was some fans unhappy with that trade. The trade people were REALLY unhappy with at first was Alonso for McCoy.

Team turnover is likely greater than you think, though I admit only 2 remaining is not much. It's like our Super Bowl teams. I always think of them being pretty much the same bunch of guys over those 4 years. Not true at all. There were a ton of changes all over the lineup. In modern football it is eith 4 yrs to UFA. P,Ayers drsfted 2018 and earlier are UFAs. if you add to it coach and gm stability and fo good drafting and resigning players draft you will likely have 8 ordo core players on the roster for more than 4 yrs. Thrn you will add UFAs to the team for vet depth. also look at the measure of median nfl experience on the teams full 53 man and their top 35 players which is your regularly used offense and defense players. qb, 2 RB, 3 WR, 2 TE, 1 extra rb/wr/te 7 OL 11 DL/LB, 6 DBs., K, P

Watkins, Tyrod and Darby were traded for draft picks Lawson - not given a FA contract

Don’t shy away from maximizing the opportunity now because of a possible year transition later
TheBrownBear Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 Lol. I like to think i follow the Bills pretty closely, but this is the first time i recall hearing the name Reid Ferguson. Guess I've been living under a rock when it comes to our special teams.

Long snappers get notice when (1) they make mistakes and (2) when they make plays other than their regular job such as recovering a football or tackling someone on opposite team who return a missed FG. He is solid but not spectacular. He has never missed a game. He has been involved in a few tackles. 1ManRaid Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 So I guess this can be pointed out to the Twitter idiots who love to go "hurr hurr Bills suck they didn't make the playoffs for so long". Yeah, and literally only ONE actual player who knows those years is still on the team since we got new coaching/management and started making the playoffs again. Might be related.

Getting rid of Watkins and Darby caught people off guard and we knew there was a new sheriff in town. The fact that we made the playoffs that year under McDermott despite losing them just shows you how awful the Rex hiring was. 1

No_Matter_What Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 I think I read somewhere that Von Miller is the last player from Broncos 2016 SB roster still on the team. So if he misses whole season Broncos won't have a single player from SB team after just 5 seasons. 1

eball Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 (edited) Of all the guys pre-2016 the one I’ll always regret losing is Bobby Woods. What a consummate pro and really good receiver. In retrospect the Bills were such a mess and he wanted to go home to LA, but in today’s Bills’ culture he would be an unbelievably good fit. Aside from that, I’m a forward-thinking guy and I’m ready for a dominant era of Bills football. Edited September 10, 2020 by eball 1
