I will not be at all surprised when Foster, Williams or McKenzie don’t make the initial 53, I do feel that McKenzie and Williams will clear waivers and end up on the PS.

Beane may work a trade for late round draft picks involving Williams and or Foster for a WR needy team, maybe.  Foster, god only knows why he has fallen to the point he has, showed a lot of positive in those eight games as a rookie. Diggs, Brown, Beasley, Roberts and Davis are locks,  Hodgins/ McKenzie are two who depending on Coaches decisions may swap out on the 53/PS.

Fromm didn’t make any real case for himself, so I see Allen and Barkley as the two QBs on the 53. Fromm goes PS. D Webb is likely history.

With the new LB Smith that was just traded for we may see Vosean or Thompson sent to the PS, hard to say. He is supposed to be a good STs player. We shall see.

If Murphy gets cut it will be a financial decision, not because he plays poorly as a rotation guy. May end up traded for a future pick.

Some D and O line guys may end up

traded for picks, your guess as to who is likely better than mine.

Nsekhe being our only real LT /RT back up is essentially a lock, as well as Dawkins, Spain, Morse, Ford, Feliciano, and Williams, Bates sticks, he is versatile, and is the only currently available backup center. Winters I think may stick as well.

There will be some IR juggling post cuts, so there will be some changes to the 53.

McDermott is gonna do what he does, so I don’t see what would be considered a big surprise coming on cut down day, but I can’t count the times I have been wrong over the last sixty plus years.

Go Bills!!!

The Andre Smith trade means at least one special teamer is getting cut.  Hopefully it is DiMarco and they keep 6 WR and no fullback.

Other possibilities are Taiwan Jones or Matakevich. Both players will never see the field on offense or see defense.  One of these three and maybe 2 of 3 are getting cut.

it is a 2023 conditional 7th round pick which just means Bills were able to skip waivers to get him.  No guarantee of roster.

Fully Guaranteed Money: $89,048

Most important thing is he is someone to blame if StubHub will not give you a refund.

Foster not a surprise for me

why oh why are you so agin keeping the  Full back Dimarco ST ace

Because the fullback position is not needed in 2020. If they need a lead blocker then just line up a TE. They would be far better off keeping an extra WR or a fourth TE than keeping a FB.

yup, much cheaper than a useless FB, a fourth RB and a linebacker that can't play linebacker. I stand by my post at least one if not two of thise three will be gone

Matekevich is a stone cold lock. The man looking over his shoulder is Joseph.

I think DiMarco is in trouble now with the lingering health issue.

After that the one that will shock some fans is Tommy Sweeney will be cut.

Yeah, I agree on DiMarco.  Reggie Gilliam has been making the most of his opportunity.  Nobody is going to mistake him for Stephon Diggs, but he's done what they've asked him to do from catching the ball to blocking and playing special teams.  And as they say, the greatest ability is availability.

Other predictions:  Davis Webb surprises everybody and sticks as backup QB.  Neither Barkley nor Fromm have done much to lay claim to a spot in training camp.

I think Feliciano makes the initial 53 man roster and then gets IRed

Starting offensive line will likely be Dawkins - Spain - Morris - Ford - Williams.  After Feliciano is IRed, the backups will be Winters, Nsekhe and Bates.

At WR, Brown, Beasley, Diggs and Davis are no brainers and Andre Roberts is close to it.  The last spot will go to either McKenzie or Hodgins, but I really don't have a feel which of the two will get the nod.

Dawson Knox hasn't done a whole lot in training camp, but he's the default starter at TE.  I think Lee Smith also makes it, mostly because nobody else has stepped up.  Same with Tyler Kroft.  I'm assuming his most recent foot injury is day to day.  At the forth TE spot, I think the Bills switch out Sweeney for Croom and Sweeney ends up on IR.

At DT, I think Oliver, Butler, H. Phillips and Jefferson are set, or at least close to it.  At DE Hughes, Epenesa, and Addison are locks.  Epenesa hasn't been blowing observers away with his pass rushing at training camp, but he gets a pass for being second round pick.  The fourth DE  is a tough call.  Trent Murphy has underperformed his contract, and there's nothing to suggest that will change, but on occasion he generates some pressure and he's usually not terrible. Daryl Johnson has flashed in camp and is a special teams demon.  He's got some  size and quickness, but has he done enough?  Mike Love has also flashed as has Brian Cox.  Unfortunately, none of the three has done quite enough that it screams, "You have to keep me."  Expect to see a couple of them at least on the PS.  If the Bills keep 9 D-linemen, I think the extra guy will be a DT.  I'm guessing Vincent Taylor, but Tanzel Smart has been making a case for himself.

Of course, Tremaine Edmunds and Matt Milano are the established stars at linebacker.  AJ Klein and Matakevich also make the squad.  I think Vosean Joseph is headed for the PS if not being cut outright.  I think Dodson makes the team.  There will be one more, but the last guy is a tough call.  There's something to be said for Thompson, but he's been nicked up in training camp and he's small even for Sean McDermott.  There's the new guy, Andre Smith, who has a special teams reputation.  Del'Shawn Phillips is pretty athletic but I think we know less about him than just about anyone one else among the linebackers.  The last guy will be one of those four.

At CB, Tre White is a lock, of course, and so are Levi Wallace and Taron Johnson.  I'm assuming Josh Norman's Hamstring issues are minor and he makes the squad.  I think Brian Allen makes it.  He's big and fast and a special teams ace.  I think the Bills saw something in him they like and that's why they went out and got him.   I think the last guy is Dane Jackson, but I wouldn't be shocked if they went Cam Lewis instead.  Which ever one doesn't get picked goes to the PS.  At safety after Hyde and Poyer, I think the Bills keep Neal who can play some CB and is a special teams demon.  If the Bills keep five, it's an easy call.  The last two are Dean Marlow, who knows the system well and Jaquan Johnson who is very smart and instinctive if not terribly athletic.  He's a plus special teamer too.

Ouch if that is the case, then linebacker depth is worse than I thought. I thought Joesoh would start ti get some of Kleine's reps.

honestly i don’t think any of them get cut but I can dream can’t I? At least I didn’t say Duke Williams. That would’ve caused consternation for sure.

When in doubt, always cut the high-motor lunch-pailer. I think Phillips is safe though.

Just for the restrained consternation It would cause around here I thought it’d be funny to throw his name out there but absolutely yes I think he’s safe too ?

Why would you cut a guy who is able to give you a free pass to move to the PUP list?  He's cheap so $$ saved isn't an issue.  The reason for cuts, particularly the surprises are due to a numbers glut.  Sweeney gives you a free move so what are you accomplishing by cutting him?.

I didn't realise he was on PUP when I posted it I thought he was just hurt. They will try and stash him if he is on PUP.

How is Foster getting cut or traded a surprise? The dude had an uphill battle even if he had a great camp let alone that he never saw the field.

I would not be surprised, but, in his defense, didn't he really improve as a special teams player last year? He was a key contributor. So, does he stick because he is a key contributor on Special Teams and adds solid depth to the receiving room.

Because of his SP play, I would giv him much better odds of making it over Duke and McKenzie.

It’s unpopular, but I don’t see a lot of surprises this year in who is retained and who is not.  I can see Dane Jackson making the PS, but I don’t see that as a surprise.

I’m most intrigued by two things:  the number of WRs they keep and whether they cut Murphy.  I really believe they will keep 7 WRs, with Hodgins and McKenzie both making it.  That extra WR spot will be mitigated by the fact McKenzie is also a backup returner and plays ST, and I think they may only keep two QBs on the active roster (Webb, and possibly Fromm, to the PS).  I believe Murphy will be cut.

Also, I’m pretty sure Dane Jackson will make the 53.  The only draft pick I see not making the 53 is Fromm.

I think this is an uneventful year as far as surprise cuts go due to the offseason we have had. Chemistry and familiarity is key. I think we all know Foster and Duke are gone. With our OL depth we could see the typical Beane trade for a 4th-6th Round pick. Other than that I don't expect any "WOW" cuts.

I’d be happy to see Jackson make the 53.  I didn’t mention Murphy as I don’t see it as a surprise, but is a good decision financially if one of the others is good.  My only contention with increasing to 7 WR’s when we normally have 6 is what position group on offense is shrunk to one less.  O Line, TE?  I’m not being a wiseguy, just know if you add in one area, you have to take it from somewhere else.

By looking at a 53 man squad, you have to have a dedicated LS, K, P so that leave 25 on each side, but who can be both ST and in a position group.  I’m not against 7 WR’s as long as we know where we pull it from.  Mckenzie is a gadget guy, and I guess a back up returner.

Not with Kroft limping around again.

If this is going to be a 4-6 week injury TS gets to stick around.

If a team trades for Foster that is another magical move by Beane.

I just don't see a team willing to trade for him, honestly. He did nothing last year and has been on the roster bubble his entire career.

I can see a 7th round pick for a team that needs to replace an injured gunner on teams. I seriously doubt any team is going to make a trade based upon his receiving potential though.

Since I posted this I learned Sweeney has not practiced at all in camp and is on the PUP list. That means he almost certainly gets IR'd.

Yep. A 7th that becomes a conditional 6th if he actually makes any significnat contribution as a receiver is the kind of value I imagine.

LOL OK are we talking about DeMarco or Sweeney?  As far as I know Sweeney is on PUP, but DeMarco is just out hurt.

Yea Sweeney is on PUP. He has been on PUP since before camp so think very unlikely they activate him now given it would give them a tough decision on him. DiMarco is just hurt but he was almost certainly in his last year here, he is out of contract after this season and the Bills seem to like Gilliam. If DiMarco was healthy I think they'd have had him on the team and just tried to sneak Gilliam onto the PS but not sure they will take that risk if DiMarco is then going to miss 4 or 5 games anyway. They might just bite the bullet and cut the vet.
