There is a small case to be made for keeping two kickers (its been done before), especially if they think Bass is their guy for the future.

There is NO case for keeping two punters...

So what position group are you going to go short on to keep 4 kickers???   The answer is resounding NO

Refer to pantry illustration above. You have plenty of tomato soup in the cupboard...replace a few cans with good stuff!!

OMG. One of the most ridiculous posts EVER. You'll get called on it and come back, claiming it was a joke. Too many other positions need depth, so Bills will keep 1 kicker and 1 punter, period.

George (can I call you George?) - I’ll say it again: Points (FG’s) and field position (deep accurate punts) win football games. Why wouldn’t you maximize the likelihood of both by retaining more of those position players at the expense of two or three cans of tomato soup (7th CB or 8th Olineman).

Edwards will be I'd bet.  But hopefully they bring in more competition.

I would expect he’s got the best shot just being signed, but ya never know who may be released in the upcoming weeks

I would consider 2 Kickers on the opening day roster to start if Bass shows enough. In terms of Punter keep whoever wins the job. Bojorquez wasn't great last year to begin with.

Are the extra two kickers going to be the Gunners on punts and kickoffs? In your theory keeping more kickers actually makes the special teams worse not better.

Don't underestimate the likelihood of a kickoff specialist either.  If you can kick the ball out of the end zone every time you can put Josh Allen on kickoff coverage.  This one move frees up so many wasted roster spots for special teams kick coverage.

Fewer kickoffs to cover also has an added benefit of fewer player interactions/collisions which is more important than ever in a COVID season.

If we add the 40-49 yard kicker as mentioned repeatedly by @klos63 we could feasibly carry 4 kickers this season.

Well the extra kickers already play special teams so so they don't need to learn to be taught the intricacies of coverage, hence better

Hence the reason for keeping Hauschka and Bass.  Have Bass do the regular kickoff duties, but every once in a while (at the last second) sub in Hausch to throw the other team a curve ball.

He drops a high hanger on the 15 yard line and Pat DiMarco vaporizes the returner.  This will lead to many more fumble recoveries on special teams.  Genius.

Go short on LB’ers.  We only really need 2.  We play nickel most of the time anyway.  Just keep one extra safety.  Bingo.

You have no history on site.  One "QB expert" wanted to trade our starting DE for backup QB John Skeleton, created a poll and majority of those who responded agreed.

Except that particular poster (schmuffalo schmarbarian) was being serious ?

I think we need 4 punter and 4 FG kickers...one for each Quarter...... I think these boys need relief they see the field so much ;)

Fergy quit pulling our leg....or finger ;)

I can see us keeping 2 kickers but no way 2 punters and there is absolutely no way that they roster 4 kickers and punters total.

I was thinking this. Even putting Bass on the practice squad would be a risk, but so would being stuck with him for the rest of the season if he ends up poopin' the bed.

No two punters, thats crazy.

Who was the DE? Was it a contract dump?

We all can agree, NFL games are won and lost by field position and points. A bad punt can leave your defense with a short field.  A missed 55 yd field goal - no points.

This team is ready to win, and winning requires good field position and points.

Keep Bass as our long field goal kicker...anything over 50 yards, he comes on the field.

Keep Hauschka for the 20-40 yd field goals...he's money.

Keep Bojorquez for shorter punts when you need the ball placed inside the 15 yd line or when there's a southeasterly wind at the stadium (to crate a cross wind with his left foot).

Keep Edwards for longer punts and drop kicks. He's Australian and they utilize the drop kick a lot in that league. Would be a nice wrinkle for the Bills and can score points.

Thoughts?

two kickers with different strengths can work in some games - especially say you expect a low scoring battle against new england. two kickers and two punters though — ?? maybe if one of the punters can cover on special teams when the other is punting.

but kudos for a real creative thought

4 kickers on the 53 ?  what a joke.   sure , keep an extra 2 kickers in case a starter goes down, , but not on the 53.   the rules say you can  bring a guy up practically on game day if the starter tests positive.
