4_kidd_4 Posted August 17, 2020 Posted August 17, 2020 CFL is a very entertaining product, always stop and watch if it’s on, that goes way back to my childhood. Gotta love border town TV! BC Lions are my adopted squad. 2

Doc Posted August 18, 2020 Posted August 18, 2020 I'm assuming because they rely on gameday revenues?
msw2112 Posted August 18, 2020 Posted August 18, 2020 Yes, that's the gist of the article. They lost millions last year WITH fans in the seats, so they would lose even more without fans in the seats. Not enough TV revenue to sustain a season economically. 1
apuszczalowski Posted August 18, 2020 Posted August 18, 2020 TSN doesn't pay a Billion $$$ for the TV rights, The Grey Cup doesn't generate Billions in advertising, and most of their revenue comes from ticket sales that they won't get if they can't have fans in the seats. They asked the canadian Government for a $30 mil loan so they could play this year and the Canadian Government refused to give it to them so their only choice was to not have a 2020 season and come back next year (Hopefully) Although Ryan Reynolds is a big Canadian who just sold his Gin company for about 20x's the amount they needed, maybe he could fund the season? $30 mil isn't a huge loan for a typical celebrity group to come up with...... 1

These are straight facts brah. CFL is a gate driven league, so the move makes sense. They need full stands, and even 30% full won't get it done. Is what it is. Its a minor league 1
machine gun kelly Posted August 18, 2020 Posted August 18, 2020 Any questions people have are answered in the article. I scanned it in two minutes. It’s logical why they canceled.
ALF Posted August 18, 2020 Posted August 18, 2020 Wonder if some CFL players under contract would be allowed to play in the NFL for this season ?

Always found that to be quite silly in a league with so few teams... Not true at all. There was only one Rough Riders. The other was the Roughriders. Completely different. Actually, the Roughriders are still around but the Rough Riders are not. 1

What’s the opposite of this list? Need to plan a trip if other countries ever let Americans in again. and I don’t if this has ever been discussed but why Haven’t they’re ever just made the CFL a minor league for the nfl? They try all these other stupid leagues but none of them have the staying power like the cfl.
