Golden Goat Posted August 12, 2020 Posted August 12, 2020 Holy crap, six years? No offense, @JR in Pittsburgh, but this is a bit better than your dream!

His the best coach we've had since at least Wade, but all he's shown so far is that he can take average teams to a first round playoff exit. I would've waited at least 1 more year before extending. Nobody cares. 2
Rubes Posted August 12, 2020 Posted August 12, 2020 (edited) So actually it's a new contract, with a 4-year extension on the 2 years he still had left. Edited August 12, 2020 by Rubes 4 1
boater Posted August 12, 2020 Posted August 12, 2020 There were a number of articles last week where players stated they came to Buffalo because of it's reputation as a strong program. That's on McD. I think those articles may have caused Pegs to get off the pot and open up his wallet. 1

Sometimes you need to recognize what you have and lock it down. Plus he probably deserved a raise. 2

He is a good coach and you will have a hard time finding better. He is well respected in the league. The Bills are off the coach roulette wheel and that is great. Who do you suggest is better for the Bills? Sean Mcdermott with the remaining 2 years left on his original contract. If we're SB contenders this season you can give him the mega extension after the season is over

I think he's a fairly average coach. The 2017 Bills were a very mediocre team that finished 9-7 and made the playoffs only through the grace of god. The 2019 Bills were a bit better, but finished 10-6 with an insanely easy schedule. The team is trending in the right direction, but if we don't take that next step I think we'll regret this decision. Right and if we'd played our starters week 17 we'd of been 11-5. I mean seriously his contract doesn't count against the cap worst case scenario we're paying him to coach somewhere else down the line. 2

There will be ups and downs but he's a quality coach. If he can get the offense going he'll win a lot more than he loses. I'm confident he'll put a competitive defense on the field every season.

You afraid all this "new money" is going to go to his head and he's going to blow it on fast cars, loose women, and Captains hats? 1 3

I have a feeling about these things.. riiiiight.. cuz road wins @Dallas, @ Pittsburgh @ Atlanta, @ Minnesota @ Kansas City weren’t meaningful at all. ?♂️ Thank god Home Schooling starts next week. Which is nice. (Great Caddyshack Line!) Arse meet foot. Head meet door. how many of those teams were playoff winning teams that year?
Andrew Son Posted August 12, 2020 Posted August 12, 2020 Great, now that McDermott's extended he's going to be content and lazy! Hope he doesn't have a fat brother. 3
SDS Posted August 12, 2020 Posted August 12, 2020 So do the pessimists think that when you start a new job you don’t change? You don’t do things better year after year? You don’t evolve over time? You’re the same person on day one as day 10,001? Is that the way life works? 1

I'm ok with McDermott and Beane getting another shot finding a QB if Josh Allen isn't the guy. 5

I was going to go with Marv Lewis. Good defensive coach, but question marks on offense. Good enough to make the playoffs, but not good enough to win in the playoffs. Lewis also brought a once joke of a franchise to respectability.
