Bulldog Posted July 12, 2020 Posted July 12, 2020 (edited) As an old New York guy - I loved Yogi Berra: "It ain't over till it's over" "No one goes there anymore - it's too crowded" "Always go to other people's funerals - or they won't come to yours" "Baseball is 90% mental and the other half is physical". I try to keep that in mind after any professional accomplishment. I mean, yeah, it's good to be proud of your work, but hey - that's what you get paid for. One of my favorites.

Thanks for the Godfather quote - one of the all-time greatest films - full of quotable lines (though not sports related). "Leave the gun -- take the cannoli" "In Sicily women are more dangerous than shotguns"

GunnerBill Posted July 13, 2020 Posted July 13, 2020 So my favourite moment of sports commentary (will be no surprise to those who understand my username) is "It's up for grabs nowwwwww!" My two favourite quotes from sports coaches are both from the great Vince Lombardi: "The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will." "Individual commitment to a group effort - that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work." And of course my favourite motivational soundbite (and I used this myself as a soccer coach when we lost a league title on goal difference on the final day of a season): "Fight on my men, Sir Andrew said, A little I'm hurt, but not yet slain; I'll just lay down and bleed a while, And then I'll rise and fight again."
