B-Man Posted July 29, 2020 Posted July 29, 2020 WAIT, I THOUGHT ONLY CRAZED RIGHT WINGERS WHO WANT TEACHERS TO DIE!!!! WERE SAYING THIS: Bill Gates on back to school: Benefits in ‘almost every location’ outweigh costs for young children. If teachers don’t want to teach kids in the fall, don’t pay ’em. Give the money to parents. 1
123719bwiqrb Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 All NYS school administrators have found the way out of this pickle, and you'll hear the full court (union) media press in the next couple of weeks. They "can" open safely, but they don't have the funding to do so. Hide behind the non-existent money, and all is well. Any other choice gets their butts fired and their retirements could be affected. This is 100% a done deal at this point, any further discussion is stupid. Reconvene after the election and see which way the wind (union) is blowing then.

In Orange County Florida we as teachers got to put in preference for face to face, straight online, or live lessons online.( With straight online you don't teach much but have more students) but teachers who can not get a doctor note saying they are high risk they can be forced to teach face to face. I am going face to face and will just be careful but I actually am pleased with my superintendent with this because it allows those in real danger to be safe but can force whiners into work. 2

Big Blitz Posted July 31, 2020 Posted July 31, 2020 Mayor Bowser tells the truth. Holy cow! This got virtually no national coverage yesterday: "Students who do not have Internet access or a computer at home will be provided with the necessary technology, the mayor’s office said. Schools Chancellor Lewis Ferebee said D.C. had been collecting data from more than 13,000 respondents and found 44 percent of students do not have access to a device at home. Health officials, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the CDC and Dr. Anthony Fauci, have warned of dire secondhand consequences if children are not brought back to school. “You know, I’m just going to speak candidly, if we don’t have teachers who want to come in person, we would have to find another set of adults who want to come in person,” Bowser said, according to WTOP." https://www.foxnews.com/politics/dc-public-schools-to-go-virtual-through-at-least-november She just said, the unions are the problem, and it's safe to be in schools. 2

In other words they don’t know. Also this is a setting where there were many staffers that were in settings with the students for long periods of time. Very highly likely that the staffers infected the students. Whoever was making the connection to this and implications for schools is a moron. Two totally different set of dynamics. But never underestimate the mainstream media, their mainstream viewers and politicians to somehow equivocate the two. Oh, wearing cloth masks in this setting would have done zilch. 1

You look at the massive number of cases and think there was no spread among kids? It’s possible you’re right. Seems unlikely given the prevalence. Masks help reduce transmission. They didn’t use them so we will never know. Other countries with low case counts are reopening schools without spikes. We have to reopen schools, though some states are giving in to fear/panic and won’t. I can’t predict what the case trans implications will be. This camp is anecdote, not predictive data.
