I mean it just happened, and for the most part not one person has really faced any consequences. I don't trust this guy at all anymore. He knows no bounds.

TBH his last post was a lie of just look at his more recent postings. He is a Trumpster in reality. It's either that or he is just a huge troll basking in the horrific events that unfolded. For those that say the speech didn’t incite the riot. When I was listening to it, half way through, these were my thoughts on it posted here. I’m sad that I was right. 2
reddogblitz Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 After all this, he left LOL. Maybe we can take this as a learning moment for the next time we get a really bad president and some suspect he will not leave and be a dictator. The founders of the country had such a leader. He was a King. They didn't like Kings and made sure we would never have one. To do so they installed checks and balances. It worked. Sure Trump wanted to stay. He filed law suits and the courts ruled against him. He tried to go to the Supreme Court but the 6 R/3 D Court wouldn't hear the case. Thugs stormed the Capital, but The House and Senate refused to over turn the election. So, like the 44 presidents before him, he is out on his bum.

The learning moment here is just how fragile democracy is and just how much diligence is required to maintain it. Don’t ever just take this for granted because of past history. It wasn’t a piece of parchment that preserved our democracy. It was the women and men TODAY who refused to give it up without a fight. 2

True. But its also true it worked because it was in "the parchment". Those that tried to work outside " the parchment " failed and many are going to jail. 1

I read your post as suggesting such institutions were a given and consequently that there was never anything to worry about. I think there is always something to potentially worry about. Complacency breeds corruption. Every person in power ought to be watched closely. Period. 1 1

This is absolutely correct. And he's ridiculed for it, but maybe we have Mike Pence's Christian faith to thank too. Say what you will about him, he's true in his faith. Trump tried his most aggressive tactics on Trump, including vilifying him before the mob. Trump put it bluntly: you send the certifications back to the states, we win. Pence reflected, prayed, and concluded that he swore an oath before God to uphold the Constitution, and he was faithful to it. Now imagine if someone like Ted Cruz or Chris Christie had been the VP instead ... 1

Just because Trump was a sociopath who never loved anyone or anything except himself doesn't mean that all or most Republicans owe their loyalty to Trump over their country, even if many of them truly believe that there was significant election fraud because that's what they've been hearing for months. I think that when push came to shove, I don't believe that either Cruz or Christie would have broken the law in order to appease/curry favor with Trump any more than Mike Pence did. It's one thing to make symbolic political gestures that don't have great consequences but quite another to commit treason.

Doc Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 Trump left office. Obviously he never left the minds of liberals. 1
