do we all agree this guy is a giant baby?  Someone yelled something at him, he had to go get her on video tape and is trying to make her lose her job.  I cannot stand cancel culture from either political party.

Canceling Goya made me go online and order a bunch of their stuff. ?‍♂️

The Goya thing is a perfect example of just how demented the left is with its cancel culture. They are literally trying to shut down an Hispanic-owned business that employs 10s of thousands of people because the owner likes Trump. I remember how successful they were shutting down Chick-Fil-A. I'm sure this Goya thing will be equally successful.

I've said it repeatedly; I could never be a Democrat based on how unbelievably stupid they are.

I do not know if anyone here has been following the Harper's Magazine brouhaha. They even take a swipe at Trump and his supporters, but it has not been enough for cancel-culture fans!

A Letter on Justice and Open Debate

Our cultural institutions are facing a moment of trial. Powerful protests for racial and social justice are leading to overdue demands for police reform, along with wider calls for greater equality and inclusion across our society, not least in higher education, journalism, philanthropy, and the arts. But this needed reckoning has also intensified a new set of moral attitudes and political commitments that tend to weaken our norms of open debate and toleration of differences in favor of ideological conformity. As we applaud the first development, we also raise our voices against the second. The forces of illiberalism are gaining strength throughout the world and have a powerful ally in Donald Trump, who represents a real threat to democracy. But resistance must not be allowed to harden into its own brand of dogma or coercion—which right-wing demagogues are already exploiting. The democratic inclusion we want can be achieved only if we speak out against the intolerant climate that has set in on all sides.

</snip>

This stifling atmosphere will ultimately harm the most vital causes of our time. The restriction of debate, whether by a repressive government or an intolerant society, invariably hurts those who lack power and makes everyone less capable of democratic participation. The way to defeat bad ideas is by exposure, argument, and persuasion, not by trying to silence or wish them away. We refuse any false choice between justice and freedom, which cannot exist without each other. As writers we need a culture that leaves us room for experimentation, risk taking, and even mistakes. We need to preserve the possibility of good-faith disagreement without dire professional consequences. If we won’t defend the very thing on which our work depends, we shouldn’t expect the public or the state to defend it for us.

Imagine being a business owner. Your hired staff (the store manager in this case) is standing in the doorway, and randomly calls out to a passerby "***** You." Are you happy with that employee? Do you want that employee representing your brand? Do you think that encourages consumers to enter the store and shop?

I took out the "***** Trump" while wearing a piece of Trump branded apparel so as not to trigger anyone with Trump's name. Simply imagine it was a random F-U to a passerby. While on the job. While in your store. While representing your brand.

That is no bueno.

it is not good and it is wrong.  But also, the guy needs to grow up.  Since when do we whine to brands on social media and try to get people fired?  It’s pathetic

If she had simply been passing by the guy on the street and said, "***** Trump," I would agree with you. Because she was at her job, representing her employer, and randomly  shouts an expletive at someone passing by, she at minimum needs some disciplinary action. However,  if I am the employer I fire her as it simply is not something to be condoned when representing my store, my brand. Who knows what else she has done on the job when not being recorded. The trust would be completely gone. And as the store manager, she must be trustworthy.

that’s fine I suppose, but I just live my life differently.  If an employee or manager is doing something wrong, I just won’t shop there again or I will ignore it.  I won’t have the urge to film them, post it on social media, and call for them to be fired.  Nor would I tell on them in person. It’s childish imo

it is just something I don’t believe in.

That is fine for you. However, as her employer, I WOULD want to know about this.

well, employers would like to know about a lot of the cancel culture stuff.  So I hope you are consistent that it is warranted if the employer “would want to know about” it...

When on the job? As a business I certainly would want to know about it.

If a random employee of a business that I'm just passing by yells out an F bomb at me while I'm with my family, then you better believe I will confront that person.  Will I film the confrontation and post it on social media?  No, because I'm an adult born well before the early 80's.

right, that’s my point and I fully agree.  It is wrong for the employee and they deserve to be confronted.  But I’m not a child

The GOYA thing must really be pissing you off.

Frankly I'm not a fan of using social media to complain to an employer. I go directly to the employer if there is an issue. If I was of the mindset to video that woman, I'd send them video to the employer, not to the world. But many turn to social media to air their complaints in hopes of going viral. I wouldn't be surprised if Trump re-tweeted that dude's video. That's the allure, for better or worse.

Still others use it to get employers to correct a bad situation. I constantly see people tweeting out to hotels and airlines because of poor service and/or treatment; sometimes it works and the company responds right away to get the person off social media and into DMs.

Just a Congresswoman calling for the boycott of a Latino run company.  Nothing to see here.

And this clown.  Also, nothing to see here.

But Trump is the fascist.  Ok.  Oh and a racist that hates brown people.

Starting at the 3 minute mark, he talks about  the difference in reactions when he worked with the Obama administration vs his working with the Trump administration:

At 4:45, he talks about how the Trump administration has removed roadblocks to creating jobs.

That's the thing that REALLY irks me about this "movement."

They call themselves tolerant when they're anything but. They're illiberal, illogical and anti-American.

So, buy some Goya products today.

I was surprised yesterday when someone in one of my Facebook groups started spewing how disappointed she was in their CEO.  Her reasons made no sense whatsoever (and she started with the Trump administration puts Hispanic kids in cages which I quickly linked to lefty snopes to tell her, uh no -lefties listen to snopes so "when even snopes has it..."). By the end of the discussion she was out of the boycott and going to email them how "disappointed" she was (she didn't even know why he was there!)

I swear people get so sucked into this fake-***** on social media, and I have no idea why. Buzzfeed click-bait headlines have infested out entire society, and no one researches or thinks for themselves these days. /rant off, not directed at you at all, Joe ? simply a rant about sheep

Charles Payne pointed out what a terrific company Goya is today:

No offense taken. I've largely abandoned Facebook as a platform in favor of all things....Twitter.

It's gotten THAT bad.

If he was walking by with his family and she yelled FU then he I am ok with it. This also shows how dishonest you are, at no point is this cancel culture and you know it.  To be fired for behavior at work while working is absolutely proper, if she said it on the street and he went out of his way to find her and get her fired that is different.
