That might not actually be about a gun.

Gen'rals gathered in their masses,
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction,
Sorcerer of death's construction
In the fields the bodies burning,
As the war machine keeps turning
Death and hatred to mankind,
Poisoning their brainwashed minds
Oh Lord yeah

I’m breaking my own rule and posting whole stanza.  Zappa is a poet who described what’s going on right now in 1966

Well, I seen the fires burnin'
And the local people turnin'
On the merchants and the shops
Who used to sell their brooms and mops
And every other household item
Watched the mob just turn and bite 'em
And they say it served 'em right
Because a few of them are white,
And it's the same across the nation
Black & white discrimination
They're yellin' "; You can't understand me!";
And all the other crap they hand me
In the papers and TV
'N all that mass stupidity
That seems to grow more every day
Each time you hear some nitwit say
He wants to go and do you in
Because the color of your skin
Just don't appeal to him
(No matter if it's black or white)
Because he's out for blood tonight
You know we gotta sit around at home
And watch this thing begin
But I bet there won't be many left
To see it really end
'Cause the fire in the street
Ain't like the fire in my heart
And in the eyes of all these people
Don't you know that this could start
On any street in any town
In any state if any clown
Decides that now's the time to fight
For some ideal he thinks is right
And if a million more agree
There ain't no great society
As it applies to you and me
Our country isn't free
And the law refuses to see
If all that you can ever be
Is just a lousy janitor
Unless your uncle owns a store
You know that five in every four
Just one amount and nothin' more
Don't watch the rats go across the floor
And make up songs about being poor
Blow you harmonica son!

"Forward!" he cried, from the rear,

And the front rank died.

And the general sat
And the lines on the map
Moved from side to side.

That’s great, it starts with an earthquake

Birds and snakes and aero planes

And Lenny Bruce is not afraid

Honestly I've listened to and sang that song hundreds of times and always sang and heard "virgin snakes" I knew it was odd and made no sense but never bothered to read the actual lyric

I lost count of the number of times I've read the "Lyrical Response" thread and thought, "Oh, so that's what they're saying."

There's no cause to be alarmed
And no reason to escape from us
There's no illness and no pain
And no thought of any suffering

We will keep you free from harm
All you have to do is stand with us
I will mend your wounded heart
And restore the trust that you have lost

“So I lit a fire, isn’t it good Norwegian Wood”.

Did Lennon burn her house down?

Yes he did.  He got too drunk, couldn’t deliver, rejected, kicked to coach, humiliated...”so I lit a fire, isn’t it good Norwegian wood?”

I never considered it until I read it on another board this week. There’s supposedly a Macca interview where he claimed credit for that line & said that’s what it’s about, but no one could link to it. If so, I think Macca is full of sh-t as usual, especially about taking credit, but I do love that line now, could mean so many things.

Woke up, fell out of bed
Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup
And looking up I noticed I was late
Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat
Made my way upstairs and had a smoke
And everybody spoke and I went into a dream

"Oh *****"

Sorry.  I'm stickler for lyrics (that I know).
