Pete Posted June 2, 2020 Author Posted June 2, 2020 I’m breaking my own rule and posting whole stanza. Zappa is a poet who described what’s going on right now in 1966 Well, I seen the fires burnin'And the local people turnin'On the merchants and the shopsWho used to sell their brooms and mopsAnd every other household itemWatched the mob just turn and bite 'emAnd they say it served 'em rightBecause a few of them are white,And it's the same across the nationBlack & white discriminationThey're yellin' "; You can't understand me!";And all the other crap they hand meIn the papers and TV'N all that mass stupidityThat seems to grow more every dayEach time you hear some nitwit sayHe wants to go and do you inBecause the color of your skinJust don't appeal to him(No matter if it's black or white)Because he's out for blood tonightYou know we gotta sit around at homeAnd watch this thing beginBut I bet there won't be many leftTo see it really end'Cause the fire in the streetAin't like the fire in my heartAnd in the eyes of all these peopleDon't you know that this could startOn any street in any townIn any state if any clownDecides that now's the time to fightFor some ideal he thinks is rightAnd if a million more agreeThere ain't no great societyAs it applies to you and meOur country isn't freeAnd the law refuses to seeIf all that you can ever beIs just a lousy janitorUnless your uncle owns a storeYou know that five in every fourJust one amount and nothin' moreDon't watch the rats go across the floorAnd make up songs about being poorBlow you harmonica son! 1

He got too drunk, couldn’t deliver, rejected, kicked to coach, humiliated...”so I lit a fire, isn’t it good Norwegian wood?” I never considered it until I read it on another board this week. There’s supposedly a Macca interview where he claimed credit for that line & said that’s what it’s about, but no one could link to it. If so, I think Macca is full of sh-t as usual, especially about taking credit, but I do love that line now, could mean so many things.
Pete Posted June 3, 2020 Author Posted June 3, 2020 Woke up, fell out of bedDragged a comb across my headFound my way downstairs and drank a cupAnd looking up I noticed I was lateFound my coat and grabbed my hatMade the bus in seconds flatMade my way upstairs and had a smokeAnd everybody spoke and I went into a dream"Oh *****"
