Michigan President Says No Football Until On-Campus Classes Restart

by Warner Todd Huston

Original Article

University of Michigan President Mark Schlissel has nixed the return of football, unless on-campus classes have also restarted. Some thought that the Wolverines could return whether the rest of the campus had reopened or not, but Schlissel shot that idea down, the Detroit News reported. “If there is no on-campus instruction then there won’t be intercollegiate athletics, at least for Michigan,” Schlissel told the Wall Street Journal. He later added he has “some degree of doubt as to whether there will be college athletics (anywhere), at least in the fall.” Schlissel also noted that however they decide to reopen the campus, that plan will stay intact for the rest of the school year.

Maybe the NCAA will allow transfers without having to sit out a year?

WHEN YOU’RE A DEMOCRAT WHO’S LOST THE POLITICO:

When powerful people think the rules aren’t for them.

“Here’s something that may be of interest to the Joe Biden vetting squad: News reports have Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s husband pulling the ‘don’t-you-know-who-I-am’ card with a vacation boat dock worker in the middle of a pandemic that has killed thousands of people in his state.”

More at the Detroit News: “The owner of a Northern Michigan dock company says Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s husband wanted his boat placed in the water before the Memorial Day weekend as Whitmer urged residents not to rush to the region.”

I was in Western Michigan yesterday all day.  Lots of people out and about, not many masks, people I spoke with not happy with Miss Gretchen.

Now we know where agent Rhino went for the weekend.

Further proof that the left can't meme or joke very well.

Even if it was a joke and not another lefty pulling the Oprah 'you'd better keep this store open beyond regular business hours; don't you know who you're speaking with' card.  The issue isn't that he was trying to get bumped to the front of the line.  The issue was that she just asked/told everybody in Lansing to keep away from the rural areas that weren't having Covid issues but her and her husband were planning on doing EXACTLY what she said people shouldn't do.  To paraphrase a lefty icon: It's the hypocrisy, stupid.

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s (D) office building was attacked in downtown Lansing on Sunday, and so far, she has not responded to that, or the other destruction in the capital city.

The George Romney Building — named after Sen. Mitt Romney’s (R-UT) father — suffered damage after rioters broke several windows and sprayed graffiti on pillars.

On Saturday, she “encouraged” cities to create “areas for peaceful demonstrations.”

As of 11:30 p.m. ET Sunday night, Whitmer has not publicly commented on the violent “protesters.”

I guess she only attacks certain protesters

Gretchen Whitmer has her ‘let them eat cake’ moment

by Thomas Lifson

Original Article

Michigan’s Governor Gretchen Whitmer has become a laughingstock for imposing draconian lockdown restrictions on her constituents while her own family violates them. Her husband was caught red-handed demanding special treatment because of his wife’s office in violating her restrictions on boating and use of vacation houses, something she first lied about and then tried to pass off as a joke. But yesterday, she topped herself and uttered a phrase that should live on as her emblem of indifference to the suffering of those whom she oppresses. Like the final generation French aristocrats before the revolution, she causally revealed her cluelessness of the misery of those she oppresses.
