TroutDog Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 Ok, I assume that’s Kemp. Given that I’m 50, I cannot discern anything else from this picture. Any clues? First AFL Championship? 1

First AFL Championship? Bills win their first AFL Championship at War Memorial Stadium. Cookie in the backfield. Final score one the old scoreboard. 1
VirginiaMike Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Buffalo Bills original glory days!

1st Ammendment NoMas Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 Nice. My favorite memory is when we broke the Dolphins curse and rushed the field to tear down the goal posts.
Phil The Thrill Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 2 hours ago, scuba guy said: The old rock pile M and t bank bill board Really old refs unis red like it looks cool I’ve read that the Rockpile was known as one of the worst stadiums in the NFL back in the day. There was a documentary on Buffalo that said it
Mr. Wonderful Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 Really dig the refs uniforms. They should wear these in those throwback games!

machine gun kelly Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 LB, thanks for sharing as I haven’t seen a pic of the rock pile in a long time. My dad used to tell me stories of War Memorial. It was crazy back then guys rolling in kegs, etc. What a different game it was back then, but cool to see Kemp in action as well as Cookie. Far before my time.
Real McClappy Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 That's a great pic. Refs should wear the red stripe throwbacks, kinda cool.

gobillsinytown Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 I was 2 years old at the time so not there in person, but my father was. But I was there in spirit! I bet I had a good day for a two-year-old.

Hampton Josh fan Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 That's the game that put the Bills on the map. Sports Illustrated had the Stratton hit on Lincoln that saved the game. While the Packers were doing their thing against Dallas, we were the upstart AFL champions. It was that team along with the Chiefs, Raiders and Oilers that laid the groundwork for the merger.
