Virus will decide NFL season

"Fauci, who is one of one the most notable faces on the White House COVID-19 task force, says if the season was scheduled to start today, there would be no way they'd be able to play given the current high level of infection in the United States."

Yes let's be made at the guy trying to save lives .

Not mad at the guy.

Yet I'm sure he is enjoying being able to tell the country what can and cannot be done right now.

Good thing the season doesn’t start today.

Yeah, I never knew that NFL football started it's season in the month of May.

Trying to save lives is obviously good.  He has to weigh that, and common sense measures which can be taken, versus destroying the economy and setting everyone else's life back economically and mental health wise.  Sports is just a secondary factor in this larger equation.

Well, what exactly WOULD you call people who suggest we should go about our normal business and interact

People who'd like to not live through another great depression?

Now, now.....let’s all play nice.    :)

There is a LOT of time between now and then. Let’s hope for the best, and realize there are some things in life you cannot control, so don’t let it make you crazy. I’ll just pray for the best, for a LOT of reasons!

You, sir, are a very wise man!  This was not likely to end well.....

If people are filling the hospitals and dying in the streets, that's not exactly great for the economy either.

You don't get to pick and choose with this virus. It is happening. If you have a business near a shore as a tsunami was about to hit, you get to higher ground. You can say, "well, I don't want to lose business so I'm staying here" all you want, but that won't make you any less dead and your business any less defunct when the waves hit.

Yep - said we don't need masks, the virus was no big deal, etc.  He talks for 10 minutes and says nothing.  I am more interested in what the league office and NFLPA say after as they synthesize different pieces of information.

A lot can change in 4 months

Yea, it can continue to spread.

How are teams going to be able to protect their players? I was thinking today about what could happen if your QB gets infected and then has to miss a bunch of games. I also wonder if the nfl will allow for rosters to be even larger in case of some members of the team having to self quarantine. I hope there is a season but they are definitely going to have to come up with a very progressive and robust plan in order to keep things moving along.

Ah, yes. The old "science denier" retort.

Never goes out of fashion, not even after two and a half months of quarantine.

Really, that’s so weak, try next time.
