Baby corn, asparagus, pearl onions, and cucumber.

Pickled pearl onions are good.  Worked a bar in early 80's which had jar of them and some customers asked for  pearl onions in gin.

Off topic a bit, but I went to a bar after my cousin’s wedding in October.  Did a few shots of Jameson with a pickle juice chaser.  Not really sure why...everyone was doing them.  Anyone else ever hear of this?

Its called a Pickleback.

I think it was invented by or named after that Canadian band that everyone loves, Crash Test Dummies.

Yes.  It is common thing some places because the brine helps neutralize the burn of alcohol.

When I worked bar in early 80's we had a jar of pickles on bar and some patrons would buy pickles with their shots.

Interesting to learn that there’s actually a functional purpose as pickle brine is loaded with sodium, potassium and electrolytes.  Helps to hydrate and mitigate hangover “symptoms.”

Interesting that I’m just learning about this now ?

Well as bartender in early 80's I used to suggest some of my best customers to drink a shooter glass of pickle juice before they leave.  Some found it strange and others took me up on it and would ask for one before I left when I was working.  A number said it helped reduce queasiness they used to have leaving bar.
