One Buffalo Posted April 30, 2020 Author Posted April 30, 2020 Yeah Patriots was my first though too. 1
chris heff Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 Do the Patriots have enough cap space? What happened to Dalton?

Sherlock Holmes Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 And the Pats have their QB Now the real question is... is Andy Dalton a cheater? 1 2
RobbRiddick Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 Would never want him as a starter but would make a great backup imo 3
Brennan Huff Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 Not sure if Newton had any offers before this, if he did he definitely should have jumped on it
bigK14094 Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 Dalton will start for the Pats, and won't do that badly. A good system and coaches make a difference in individual performance. 3
GunnerBill Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 He is New England's next Quarterback. They can find a way to make enough cap space to bring him in and kick the can into 2021 when their cap is reasonably healthy. I did tell people all offseason there was zero chance he stayed at Cincy as their backup Quarterback. 5

Question will be how much will he want vs what the Pats will pay. He may not have much leverage...who else would want him as a starter? I know the Bengals think they are hooking him up by letting him go, but they could have done this at beginning of league year..then the Raiders and Bears maybe would have been in competition for him.
MAJBobby Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 They have 2M in cap space. now can get 14M quickly by doing something with Thurney. They need a major Reset and Dalton doesnt do that for them 1
Captain Hindsight Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 Hope he doesnt go to the Pats*. Would much rather face the Hoyer/Stidham train 2
HappyDays Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 8 minutes ago, chris heff said: Do the Patriots have enough cap space? As of right now they don't. If they release Sanu that will put them at just above $0 in cap space. The question is how much will Dalton cost? He was set to have an $18 million cap hit this year, I'm not sure what kind of price he'll be looking for on the open market.
Virgil Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 (edited) I would argue that the Pats could be better with Dalton than Brady in that offense at this point in their careers Edited April 30, 2020 by Virgil 11 4
