millbank Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 Brad Riter on Wgr is saying that the decision by doctors meeting with Joe Mesi this afternoon will unanimously recommend that Joe should not resume his career in ring Article about hearing
Thailog80 Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 Thus saving him vicious beatings from the big boys.
Tux of Borg Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 I'm glad somebody posted this. I agree it's time for Baby Joe to hang up the gloves. A subdural hematoma on the brain is not a minor injury.
Greg de'Ville Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 ...it's the checkout line at Wegmans for Baby Joe, sad to say.
kdipirro Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 Greg, with all do respect... As someone who has known Joe his whole life. Go screw yourself! I have very mixed emotions. I am very sad to see Joe's boxing career end this way but I am glad that he has a long healthy life he can continue to lead. Saying he is now going to end up on the Wegmans checkout line is completely uncalled for. Lets see you say something like that with him standing infront of you.
Greg de'Ville Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 Greg, with all do respect... As someone who has known Joe his whole life. Go screw yourself! 308515[/snapback] Aw, lighten up...no disrespect intended.
Greg de'Ville Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 ...boxing is a very hard--and dare say, DANGEROUS--way to make a living.
millbank Posted April 19, 2005 Author Posted April 19, 2005 Joe is a articulate young man who will find work in boxing promotion and do Buffalo Proud. As the saying goes, " when one door closes another one opens"
stevestojan Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 Thank god his career is over before he actually got into the ring with a contender who would beat the ever living hell out of him. Sure, he's beat guys like Bert "Who the hell is Bert Cooper" Cooper, but if he had ever actually nutted up and fought someone like either of the Klitschos or Whitaker, or Golota, he would be lucky to ever wake up again. I know as Buffalonians, we love to be homers, but this guy never was, and never would have been a contender.
CoachChuckDickerson Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 Way to dump all over a fellow Buffalonian when the guy is at his lowest. Some of you guys are real class acts. Threads like these make be imbarrassed to be a WNYer sometimes. The guy retired undefeated. Would he have gotten his head beat in by a top ranked contender? Probably, but who the heck knows. Give the guy some friggin respect for what he has done in the boxing world and the community.
Terry Tate Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 Pretty sad news. It was pretty cool seeing a boxer wearing a Sabres jersey. But his health has to come first. He's a good kid; he'll land on his feet.
