They treated every draft pick as a human interest story. Now to be fair they do this every year as each draft has some legitimately interesting human interest stories. BUT man was it laid on super thick this year for some reason.

BUT man was it laid on super thick this year for some reason. More than anything it was because they had so much extra time to fill with this draft. They couldn’t do the obligatory fan shots and show all of the huge groups Of fans gathered together for the draft. They tried a few Suzy interviews, but they were awkward. They didn’t have the 3-4 minutes of the players celebrating back stage and then getting a hat and hugging Roger. They literally were filling time and the easiest way to do that is to humanize the people with backstory - usually tragic. They didn’t even have nice shots of pro-days or other recent interviews to go to. They had to fill time with research and that is what you get. I actually enjoyed the draft and wished they had focused a bit more on the coaches and GMs and their families also. It made the process seem so much more normal rather than the over the top production of the last few years. I love the look into the homes you got and wish they would do this every year. The picture of the dog sitting in Belichek’s seat was priceless and will be a lasting image of this draft for years to come.

I agree that they could have filled it better as you said.
Mountain Man Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 I gave up on the ESPN coverage by halfway through the 1st round. The Bleacher Report coverage with Miller, Lefkoe and Rodgers was far better with much more analysis, especially on days 2 and 3.

How about that kid who had to walk over dead bodies on his way to school? That's adversity? I thought that was just normal

My Chloe has been gone 9 months and I still bawl at least once/month because I miss her so much. I'm not subjecting myself to this now! 1 1
