Whatcha got, Bills fans? I need help with mine:

K (1): Hauschka

P (1): Bojorquez

LS (1): Ferguson

QB (2): Allen, Barkley

RB (4): Singletary, Moss, Yeldon, Jones

FB (1): DiMarco

WR (6): Diggs, Brown, Beasley, Davis, McKenzie, Roberts

TE (3): Kroft, Knox, Sweeney

T (4): Dawkins, Williams, Nsekhe, Ford

G (3): Spain, Feliciano, Boehm

C (2): Morse, Long

DT (5): Oliver, Butler, Jefferson, Lotulelei, Phillips

DE (5): Hughes, Epenesa, Addison, Murphy, D. Johnson

LB (6): Edmunds, Milano, Klein, Thompson, Matakevich, Joseph

S (4): Hyde, Poyer, Neal, J. Johnson

CB (5): White, Wallace, T. Johnson, Norman, Gaines

My analysis: I had to cut too much talent! I couldn't even fit the last 4 draft picks (Fromm, Bass, Hodgins, Jackson) on the final 53, and it's probably not safe to store any of them on the practice squad. Wade and Foster also have too much natural talent to leave off the roster.

My conclusion: Goodell needs to cancel the 2020 NFL season immediately, but it has nothing to do with the coronavirus. The Buffalo Bills have already won the 55th Super Bowl with their roster additions. Brandon Beane is a GM magician who has mastered the dark arts of pro football roster assembly.

Real, that was pretty good and pretty much agreed with you’re selections.  We’ve been talking about all of these selections would never  all make the team, but if they show something in whatever preseason we might have this season we can decide if these guys are practice squad worthy.

I agree with pretty much of all this except kicker. I think Bass beats out Hauscka. When you take a kicker in the 6th round you plan to have a true open competition. This isn’t like last pre-season where McLaughlin never really got a chance to unseat Hauscka.

I think Fromm doesn’t make the 53 but is put on the PS and becomes the full time backup the following season.

I think there is room for two players as I believe if I’m not mistaken the roster is actually expanded to 55 this year, might be a reason as well for taking Fromm is knowing there’s an extra spot to stash him.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Kicker and Punter are new guys. We did draft a kicker, and that usually means the team sees that as a need. Hauschka has really begin to lose his distance, ever since that cheap shot that injured him. Bills probably want a better shot with the 50+ kicks.

Bojo will probably be the punter, but there's a chance he's unseated by Vedvik or another guy who is brought in.

Reggie Gilliam could unseat Dimarco.

Seems like a strong roster. But LB looks thin to me. Edmunds and Milano are studs, but after that it is thin.

Great point. A third QB is definately on the table. Might leave room for another DB and WR as well. Or OL.

Darn right you 'need help'.  Where is Croom?!  We might jettison execs, scouts, trainers, and beer vendors, but we do not throw overboard the bosses' daughter's boytoy.  ?

Not how it it working. Roster size 53. You can elevate 2 up to the game day roster from your PS each week.

pretty good a couple notes.

I think Vedvik beats out Bogo (IF) Hausch beats out Bass. Reason being is how Vedvik described by Beane as Punter/Long FG kicker/ Kick off specialist. They are going to keep a powerful leg on the roster for long kicks.

now I also think K is Bass’s job to lose. Listening to Beane talk it really sounds like he is of the thinking you don’t Draft a Kicker unless he is going to be your Kicker. His Leg is powerful. So I do think unless he pukes himself in the workouts and camp he will be your Kicker.

FB as much as I hate putting UDFAs on rosters history says at least one will make it. So Gilliam (think he was the ONLY BILL UDFA to make over 6 figures in guarantees) beats out DiMarco. He is Younger, Cheaper plays ST very well and adds TE (unlike DiMarco) So essentially a younger cheaper DiMarco with the added position Flexibility at TE.

You forgot that it's not a 53 anymore. It's 55.

Allen / Barkley / Fromm

Diggs / Brown / Beasley / Davis / Du. Williams / McKenzie / Roberts

Knox / Sweeney / Kroft / Smith

Dawkins / Spain / Morse / Ford / Da. Williams / Nsekhe / Bates / Long / Feliciano

Bass / Vedvik / Ferguson

Hughes / Phillips / Oliver / Epenesa / Addison / Butler / Lotulelei / Murphy / Jefferson

Klein / Edmunds / Milano / Matakevich / Joseph / Thompson

White / Norman / T. Johnson / Gaines / Wallace / Neal

Hyde / Poyer / J. Johnson

I like these roster groupings, some minor rearranging within a group or two...

He plays FB, TE, ST. Strong possibility IMHO

Hauschka is done.  Leg not strong enuf to kick in NFL any longer.  In today's NFL you have to be able to consistently make from 55.  Bass will end up being our Butker or Lutz.  Anyone know where Blankenship from UGA ended up signing?

The really sad part is that a couple guys got drafted yesterday afternoon, something they waited their whole life for, and according to this thread their NFL career is essentially over before it even got started. ☹️

The 2 do come from the practice squad, and can be sent back twice. They'd have to clear waivers to be sent back a third time after being part of the game day roster of 55.

We cut Fromm, he likely gets scooped up. Just how it works. QBs are of great need and they usually get quite a few opportunities to prove their worth. Especially if he shows anything positive whatsoever in the preseason.

Pretty solid. We do get 55. I would maybe add Hodgins as a surprise at WR. We should keep 7. Also maybe have two kickers with Bass and Hauschka. That would put us at 55.

He will most likely be PS. With limited practice time most likely with the pandemic. You have to go Barkley as backup. You could bring him or Webb up if an injury.

My attempt

QB Allen                      QB Fromm (R)

HB Singletary           HB Moss (R)

WR Diggs                   WR Davis (R)

WR Brown                 WR Williams

WR Beasley               WR Hodgins (R)

TE Knox                      TE Kroft

LT Dawkins                LT Nsekhe

LG Spain                    LG

OC Morse                  OC Long

RG Feliciano             RG

RT Ford                       RT Williams

HB Jones                    K Bass (R)

FB Gilliam (R)            P Vedvik

TE Sweeney               LS Ferguson

RS Roberts

DE Hughes                 DE Addison

DT Star                        DT Butler

DT Oliver                     DT Phillips

DE Jefferson             DE Epenesa (R)

OLB Klein                   OLB Thompson

MLB Edmunds        MLB Matakevich

OLB Milano               OLB Joseph

CB White                     CB Gaines

CB Norman                CB Wallace

FS Poyer                      FS J. Johnson

SS Hyde                       SS Marlowe

DE D. Johnson

CB Neal

CB T. Johnson

CB Jackson (R)

The above is a 53 man roster. If it is a 55 man squad then add OG Boehm and DE Murphy.

I think Barkley has served his purpose and we can go forward with Fromm as the backup QB.

Yeldon loses out to Taiwan Jones. McKenzie is supplanted by the two rookies.

DiMarco isn’t a significant player can be replaced by Gilliam. Lee Smith is no longer needed.

Replacement at both kicker and punter. Hauschka is getting old and doesn’t look the same post the Jets injury.

Murphy is the odd man out on the defensive line I think, Ryan Bates is unlucky on the OL unless he is retained over Boehm.

Ultimately my 53rd man choice was between Yeldon and Darryl Johnson. I also wanted to keep all 7 draft choices we made this year on the active roster.

Posted

My best shot:

QB: (3) Allen/Barkely/Fromm

Rb: (3) Singletary/Moss/Jones (I think Yeldon might be gone, he was inactive all year, and Jones helps special teams. Who knows how Wade has progressed, he likely won't make it, but it is possible.)

FB: (1) Gillam (Could be a surprise here- the versatility of Gillam might unseat Dimarco, plus if he makes it, we could carry 3 TEs instead of 4)

TE: (3) Knox/Kroft/Sweeney (Not convinced we won't keep Smith, but I hope we cut him)

Wr: (7) Diggs/Brown/Beasely/ Davis/McKenzie/Hodgins/Roberts (If we keep the rest of the offense like that, I could see keeping 7 Wr, Davis and Hodgins mean Duke is gone.)

OT: (4) Dawkins/Ford/Nseke/Williams (Pretty easy group)

IOL: (5) Spain/Morse/Feliciano/Long/Bates (Bates has flexibility to OT too.)

DT: (5) Lotulelei/Butler/Jefferson/Oliver/Phillips

DE: (4) Hughes/Addison/Epenesa/Murphy

Lb: (6) Edmunds/Milano/Klein/Thompson/ Matakevich/Joseph

CB: (5) White/Wallace/Norman/T. Johnson/Jackson (Gaines is too injury prone, might not even make it through camp healthy)

S: Hyde/Poyer/Neal/J. Johnson

K: Bass

P: Bojorquez

LS: Ferguson
