Pass rusher Dee Ford available. Bills were interested last year

Recommended Posts

I'd be happy to take on Ford's contract if the 49ers give us #31 (620 JJ chart) and # 176 (21 JJ Chart) in exchange for #54 and #86 (520 JJ chart).

Then 49ers will have picks in the top 3 rounds which is what they want.

Very high. $15.9 this year. But next year you can release him and save almost $13 million. So it's basically a 1 year prove it deal.

Save $7.5 releasing Murphy. I guess the question is Murphy at half the price a better asset to the Bills? It's possible the answer is yes. Murphy is a role player that does his job. Not much of pass rusher though.

Spotrac has Matt Milano's at 13 million per. I'm taking Kwon.

Why?

Now we'll compare our variables and Milano statistically over the two seasons prior to their signing. In this case we're analyzing: Games Played %, Tackles, Sacks, Stops, Coverage Catch %, Hurries, Rating

PLAYER GP% TKL/GM SACKS/GM STOPS COV CATCH% HURRIES RATING
MEDIAN PRIME % CHANGE  2.45%
AVERAGE PRIME % CHANGE  -1.18%

I'm not sure what those numbers mean, but I do know Kwon has been injured the last couple of years and it seems to skew that score. All I can say is he's just better than Matt, and he is the best linebacker on this list, though it is close with Jaylon Smith. And I love Matt Milano, but Kwon is better. So if we are talking similar salaries, I'd rather pay Kwon.

As many people say, the greatest ability is availability.

Alexander 56.3% game played percentage has to be balanced against Milano's 87.5% availability...

That is definitely true, but I would still take Kwon if the contracts are equal. If Milano comes in closer to 8-9 million, then I'd take him. Both great players, but if SF wants chump change for a guy like Alexander, I am good with it.

You’d rather pay the guy that never plays.  Makes sense

I like the fire that Milano plays with, but if he won't settle for $6.5M he can go play for the Dolphins.

By never plays meaning he tore an ACL 6 games into the season and then a pectoral the next. It's not like Will Fuller's perpetually pulled hamstring or Percy Harvin's migraines.

Things arent equal though as you wont have to give up a draft pick for Milano .... also suspect Milano signs a cheaper deal...

I’ll say this, if he was playing, and as you noted, that’s a big if, he’s totally takling Deshaun Watson at the end of that playoff game. He’s just better. But he has been hurt. I’d rather have a somewhat risky, but elite player in Kwon, who I have to give up a pick for at 13 million than pay Milano 13 million.
