I think Darnold will have the better career and be the better QB but that depends on how quickly the Jets get rid of Gase. Darnold might have to move away from New Jersey to overtake Allen. But then he won't be in the AFC East (probably). It’s pretty much a coin flip between the two at this point. Amazing how young Sam still is. He’s more than a year younger than Josh and seven months younger than Burrow.

But if the Jets are going to get better then Gase will have to go. He is terrible IMHO but I hope he stays their HC for the obvious reason. JD has a 6 year contract with the Jets so the chances he gets to hire his own HC is probably a good one. Step one - get rid of the bad contracts and malcontents. Can probably get some value for adams if you trade him now to a team who wants to extend him. Bells contract is pretty bad and untradeable but it's worth it to get him off the books. Figure out what you can do with Enunwa. Mosley's overpaid but a good player. I'd consider moving him next season. Get your ass kicked in dead money for 1 year, and then you're free of a lot of bad contracts and problems that were signed by previous regimes. You'll have money available to extend Darnold, sign free agents that help build the team in the image you're looking for, and will hopefully accumulate some draft capital to help. Hell, you might even suck enough to get #1 overall! Or if you're buffalo you could just, make the playoffs 1

Both were great QB's but Marino was probably better. Jim had the better team which is why the Bills won most of the games between the two. Ok. I guess it just depends on what you consider 'the best' QB. I would think record to team would figure into it. No doubt that Marino was a great QB, but for Kelly NOT to be considered the top QB in the AFC East during the superbowl run just doesn't sound right. He did lead an innovative offense where he made the calls.

Everyone should realize by now that Darnold is not the once in every 10 years type QB many thought he was. I still think he's a franchise guy in the long run just like Allen. But many of the things he does now, like throwing off his back foot when under duress will stick with him throughout his career. And even if his team were better, he's still going to find himself under duress every single season and week at some point. Even the great o-lines let pressure through in this league. 1

There was no phase of the game at which he didn't excel. It's hard to describe his arm strength, and I was young when I watched him but I'm thinking that his arm was a mixture of Marino and Bledsoe. 1

If fairness to Darnold the Jets are an absolute train wreck on offense. Their OL line is garbage and they no weapons outside of Bell right now. 1
Dopey Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 I think after this season ends, I think it'll be: Fitz Allen with Darnold a close 3rd Whoever NE rolls out there. Unless they roll with Cam Newton of Winston. If this happens, Josh may end up 3rd or tied with Darnold for 4th. 1 2
GunnerBill Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 At the moment it is Josh Allen. I still think he and Darnold is closer than some Bills fans seem to assume though. At the moment Allen is the one in a stable, well run organisation and Darnold is in a trainwreck. If Joe Douglas gets the Jets organisation straightened out then Sam has every chance to be as good if not better than Josh but there is a lot to fix first. 1

No disrespect to Fitz but if he has a better season than Allen then the Bills might be in trouble here. With the talent on this team and this being his 3rd year in the league, Josh needs to step up and start being the QB the Bills think he will be. 1 1

Yes, Fitz being better than Allen is a sad and scary scenario, one which I thankfully doubt. 2

Greg S Posted April 20, 2020 Author Posted April 20, 2020 12 minutes ago, ScottLaw said: The talent comparison between the two isn't even close... Fitz just processes a lot quicker than Allen at this point in both their careers.... I'd still take Allen over Fitz in a heartbeat. Not even a question. This being his 3rd year in the league hopefully the game starts to slow down for Josh and he starts to make better decisions with the ball. If Allen can improve then a Super Bowl run is possible. Talent wise this is one of the better teams in the league. 1

And then I thought - this is probably the first time in history that the Bills can claim that My young padouin as stated in Star Wars, many state Marino, but Kelly kicked his ars for years because they only had super duper, meaning duper and clayton, no RB, no defense, and Kelly is one of the toughest QB's I've ever seen and that includes Favre who is one tough as nails QB. I couldn't believe how he would wait when the rules were different and would get tattoed so he made that ball to Lofton, Beebe, and my favorite, Over the Middle, Reed. If you are old enough to have watched every one of those games, you'd know what he meant to the AFCE and Buffalo. Ask Chris Berman? That is not to take away from how magical Marino was in his day. Id still take Kelly six days a week and twice on Sunday. Kelly Tough! 1
Kirby Jackson Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 The answer right now is Josh. The answer could be Darnold or the Dolphins pick.
