Dkollidas Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 So both teams have two unhappy young players who will need new contracts. To Jets: DE- Yannik Ngakoue To Jaguars: S- Jamal Adams gives the Jets the edge rusher they’ve been lacking for years. Gives Jacksonville a veteran to lead their defense and allows Jacksonville to use their two first rounders to supplement that. Jets might need to make a small add as positional value gives Ngakoue a bit more value.
NewEra Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 Makes sense. Sucks that both teams are too stupid to make it work 4 1

And Jacksonville is also cheap so I could see them viewing Adams as valuable because he’s probably going to be $10-$12M cheaper per year when he re-signs.
billsfan89 Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 That actually makes sense for both teams. That is contingent on the Jags an Jets negotiating with both players extensions which could easily fall apart.
Sammy Watkins' Rib Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 Adams doesn't strike me as a player that wants to go to Jacksonville.

BarleyNY Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 Seems like the Jest would have to sweeten that. Adams is an excellent box safety, but he’s still a box safety. Ngakoue is a stud edge player and that’s worth way more. 1
Turbo44 Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 It would cost some salary but would you trade: #54 and our first 6th rd pick for Fournette and Ngakoue? I’m not sure either team would which means it’s probably pretty fair??
Doc Brown Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 If you're the Jets I'd rather sign Clowney and trade Adams for draft picks. You'd at least get a 1st and a 3rd minimum for Adams. 1

Paul Costa Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 Dumb trade for both teams as both players have problems being on bad teams. They want to be on contenders. Neither is a contender and both will be unhappy on opposite teams.

gjv001 Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 From my perspective, the Jets are not trading Adams, and are working hard to sign Clowney. Joe Douglas is not about to give up a star player or draft capital.

Eddie Jackson currently makes 14.6 per , followed by Byard at 14.1 per . DE I think is D Lawrence at 21 mil per. So ya , about 7 mil a year savings 1

I for sure hope they don't do this trade i don't want the Bills to have to see that Ngakoue 2 times a yr ship his but out west some where & let Marrone & Gase wallow in their own great coaching acumen used so far to put them both at the top of their coaching game ? !
Bleeding Bills Blue Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 Ngakoue is on a franchise tag - adams is on year 4 with a 5th year option. The extension for ngakoue would be more than adams too. Adams is coming off a first-team all-pro season though so is this really the best you can do? A DE who you have to immediately give 20mil per year for, when you could just sign clowney for 20 mil per year and not have to lose your all-pro safety.
416BillsFan Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 I don't think St. Doug would chose making a logical trade to help his team over spite from the Jets not giving him the HC job in 2016.
