BritBill Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 I've never heard of this chap before. His Bills career was very fleeting. Do any of the more mature members remember him? https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/american-football/52293446 1

Thurman#1 Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 I remember the name but not much more than that, I'm afraid. Good story. Thanks for posting it. 2

Mr. WEO Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 He had a cup of coffee, maybe a cigarette in Buffalo.

Albany,n.y. Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 I lived 1.5 miles north of the stadium, off Abbott Rd, in 1977. I walked to the 1st 2 home games, so I was in the stands. There's a very good chance I yelled "you suck" at him every time he missed a FG in each of those 2 games. 1
hondo in seattle Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 1977 was a horrible year for the Bills. OJ got hurt and never played for the Bills again. Jim Ringo was the HC. His 3-20 career record earn him consideration as the worst NFL head coach in NFL history. The O was pathetic. The D was terrible. Not sure who watched these games.
WotAGuy Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 I think when he was in Tampa he made NFL Films highlights when he tried to soccer kick an errant snap and whiffed. That’s my memory of him.
GRHater69 Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 What I remember was they drafted him in '77 and the he held out through all of training camp and almost the entire preseason......yes you read that right....a kicker actually held out over a contract. Once he finally signed he was terrible and got cut partway through the season. Ironically he was replaced by a kicker named Carson Long who couldn't really kick all that long. 1
T master Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 Nope don't remember him but that could have been a part of the drug induced coma i was in in the late 70's & 80's ? just saying ? 1
The Fiend Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 2 hours ago, DJB said: Such a polite way of saying you're.... Funny! But many younger members here in their 40's do remember him.
GRHater69 Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 I find that my memories of some of the teams worst years are just as strong as when the good years! Need to find a pill for that.
bigK14094 Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 I recall his tenure. Yep, an old guy. The coaches wanted to give him a chance to make it, but he had a terrible start to the season, and the players felt he was "shaky" back there. So, the Bills cut him, he lost the confidence of his teammates. I was not surprised he resurfaced in the league, but, he had worn out his welcome with the Bills. 1
First Round Bust Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 it was over for this dude after opening day 1977... he missed 2 kicks on that rainy day at home against the Dolphins when it was close game...during the zero for the 1970s run Shula and company laid on us; same more or less as Brady and BB did to us this past decade . He also went 3 for 15 from 50 yards plus for his career which lasted several years; hard to fathom why drafted (Bills 5th round) and why he last so long. 1

inthebuff Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 Not that I remember him...but according to Wikipedia....At 6'6", he is the tallest kicker in NFL history.
