Of all the homegrown talent that the Bills want to re-sign Tre makes me the most nervous that he actually will.  It seems like he likes it here but stuff like this has to be in the back of his mind.  Gilmore stated it as a big reason why he left Buffalo and unfortunately he was right.  He was a good player here but left and now is considered one of the best so much that he (undeservedly) got defensive poty.  Add in the fact that McDermott is a db guru and can get success from unlikely places and I am nervous he won't be back.  Josh Norman in Carolina keeps coming up in my head.

This also goes to show that with players, Buffalo's reputation has not recovered yet.  Ramsey was right that team success needs to come first but that is true for any perennial bottom dweller which the Bills were for most of the last 20 years.  Hoping Tre stays but unfortunately won't be shocked if he doesn't.

The current trend is actually many players having a desire to move away from big market teams.

Mainly due to the media.

If Tre White decides he needs to go somewhere else (I don't believe this FTR), then he doesn't buy I'm here and fit the culture, so I would shop him in that case.

Not that I want that, but if he really wanted to go somewhere else and further his career, I would understand.

Difference is Ramsey came in as a very high draft prospect and so he got a ton of hype.  He also was supposed to go to Dallas so there was more hype.  Then he came in and Sacksonville happened so he got more hype.

Tre made 1st team all pro but PFF still disses him.  He is starting to get recognition but I don't think it is wrong to say if Tre played in Dallas he would already be a household name.  Bills need more primetime games to become more well known.  Playing at 1pm with all of the other teams and their is a lot of other noise.  Play Sunday, Monday, or Thursday and be the only game in town.  People will talk.  That Thanksgiving game was huge for the Bills and their players getting recognition.  They were supposed to be the Cowboys sacrificail lamb to get things going in the right direction and for a long time the Bills would have done exactly that.  Instead they went in and thoroughly dominated the Cowboys.  Then recognition started coming.  If they win the division this year more will come and the tired Buffalo narrative can be put to bed!

First who gives a flying **** about PFF...

And If you are an actual fan of football you know Tre Whites name. He just was an all pro

Ramsey went from Jacksonville to LA.  I can’t think of a bigger jump in marketability and city.  Even Green Bay gets exposure even though the city itself is minuscule.  But the smaller cities do offer a lot of upside for many players.  They’re affordable and provide a good atmosphere for families.  That might not mean a lot to a top tier player who is single and signed to a huge contract, but it means a lot to mid tier (and lower) players with families.  Places like Buffalo, Cleveland and Pittsburgh can look mighty appealing compared to SF, LA and New Jersey.  Add in winning and a team can be in pretty good shape.

It would be highly ironic if Ramsey's star declines in LA because the team struggles, and we'll all look back at his Jax years as his "star" years. It is actually a plausible scenario.

Jalen Ramsey, who is a me first, hot dog, losing player, should not be advising an all-pro, team first guy, like Tre. Ramsey is a cancer and will try and destroy any team he plays for if he does not get star treatment. Why do you think the Jags gave up on him.Talent is great, but if you don't prioritize the team and winning ,you are a net loss as a player.

All the evidence you need to realize Jalen Ramsey is a loser completely lacking in “football” character. Selfish as they come. Clueless.

He is a straight-up jackass. I will root for him to fail.

Jalen isn't wrong here. Like it or not, Tre would be a household name if he played for the Giants. Daniel Jones became "Danny Dimes" after a couple of good games. I think he even trade marked the name.

Edit: Jalen was right about getting noticed, not on getting paid. Tre will get paid here.

Would he be? Like, say, Eli Apple? The Giants are bad, and one CB wouldn't have made them good. Quick: name the last few cornerbacks who started for the Cowboys without looking it up.

Or Tre could act like a jack ass like Ramsey and talk out both ends and the media would love Tre. Ramsey was a big name  on a nobody cares team like the Jaguars for exactly this reason. But I'm glad Tre doesn't talk our of both ends.

Really wish the Mario bashing would stop. It’s completely ridiculous. Dude was a real good player here for three of the four years he was here.

Yeah, it doesn’t make any sense.

Great point. QBs in NYC are a completely different animal than cornerbacks in NYC as they are anywhere else for that matter. Any CB that rises to elite status is gonna get paid regardless of where he plays.

There is definitely truth to the fact that if Tre was with the Giants he would get way more recognition because of the New York market.

But I do think it has started to come anyway.

I think if he played in a bigger market he would have been defensive rookie of the year his first year and a pro bowler in year 2.  He's a known commodity now though.

Honestly, how much more?  I think you can only get so famous as a nfl cb.  Like if Allen become an elite level qb, he will get plenty famous in Buffalo.  It’s just the nature of the position he plays. Deion Sanders is the only real famous corner I know.  And Tre is a good dude and funny but it’s not like he’s Kevin Hart (overrated but still).

To this point, the national TV games we played in last season, (DAL,Balt,NE,Pitt&Balt2) the announcers all threw flowers at Tre. It helped that he was fantastic, but they already had an agenda of praise for him. I don’t care for the jags, but I loved that they fleeced LA to get rid of a serious problem!

Josh Allen is ever bit as famous as Danny Jones, if not more.  Again, how famous can a cornerback get?  Should a right guard move to LA to increase their brand?

I mean he’s not close to as bad but couldn’t you say this about Diggs if you’re being fair?

I don't blame Ramsey for having his perception of a small market. In Ramsey's time in Jacksonville they were a very poorly run organization. Yes they were really good in 2017 but even in their greatest season they were a 10 win team and while they won 2 playoff games lets be honest they should have handled the Bills in round 1.

Whereas the Bills have had 2 winning seasons in the years Tre was here including most recently a 10 win season (that easily could have been 11 wins and a tough playoff loss that could have gone either way) and they are in a much better long term situation than the Jags who were win now in 2017. I think as long as the Bills have a consistently competitive team guys like Tre will want to stay if the money is right.

He’s a guy that would rather be famous than be great.  It’s the TO school, attended by Antonio Brown.  The funny thing is he’s just not that interesting.

Tre won’t need to leave buffalo to get paid. He’s most likely going to be one of the highest paid CB’s in the league if/when he signs a new deal here.

He will almost certainly be the highest paid CB ever. He will reset the market. Somewhere in the neighborhood of $18M per year and $60M guaranteed.

The Bills will pay him. Beane has said many times that he wants to build thru the draft and resign our own players. Tre is definitely one of the core players on the team. Also many players have said they love what Beane and McDermott are building here and they want to continue to  be a part of it. Team is on the upswing and playing in a football mad market like Buffalo makes it fun for everyone involved in the organization.
