Rigotz Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 I never made the connection until now. You'd think Beane would be all over Hopkins when he heard he was available, but maybe the bad blood between Tre and Hopkins gave him pause: https://www.syracuse.com/buffalo-bills/2020/01/bills-tre-white-downplays-deandre-hopkins-slight-but-known-to-keep-social-media-receipts.html https://buffalonews.com/2020/01/04/buffalo-bills-houston-texans-deandre-hopkins-tredavious-white/ This can certainly just be the case of two top players being competitive, but the locker room culture is fantastic right now and maybe Beane thought this would have a negative effect. Who knows, just thought it was interesting to consider. 1
Johnny Hammersticks Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 Interesting, but I think that the locker room culture is such that this “beef” would not have been a hinderance to the team. 2

IgotBILLStopay Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 TW gives as good as he gets. https://www.syracuse.com/buffalo-bills/2020/01/bills-tre-white-downplays-deandre-hopkins-slight-but-known-to-keep-social-media-receipts.html Quote After the game White had some pointed comments about Hopkins. “He had two pass catches, 30-something yards, and he cried the whole game. I was out there in him the whole game," White said. "You know what he had. Any time the offense starts to hide a guy in the backfield to get him away from me, you already know how that’s going, so that’s all I’ve got to say about that, man. Obviously he is a good receiver, but I feel like I’m better.” 3 1
N.Y. Orangeman Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 He wants a new contract and plays in the same conference. 10

Marshallp29 Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 During the Brandon Beane zoom video he mentioned the Bills "looked at other receivers and some were traded out of conference". I feel he definitely made a push for Hopkins but Bill O'Brien wanted him out of the conference entirely. 3
MrEpsYtown Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 Also it probably didn't help that O'Brien hates Brian Gaine 3

Utah John Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 This is just schoolyard stuff. If Hopkins joined the Bills, he and White would find ways to work together. Probably, going against each other in practice every day would make each of them even better than they are already, which is at the top of the league. 1
MJS Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 The only issue is O'Brien would not have traded within the conference. Doesn't really matter how much the Bills wanted him.
BeastMaster Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 There's also sentiment out there that Hopkins is losing a step and his practice habits are less than ideal, while Diggs is an extremely hard worker. Just what I've seen reported... 2
whatdrought Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 That’d be more reason to get him... let two alphas spend all offseason making each other better.

Trey doesn't shy away from anything and if you aren't confident in yourself as a top CB you will get run over
Don Otreply Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 (edited) Didn’t Beane cover this in his last presser? Edited April 4, 2020 by Don Otreply
