TwistofFate Posted March 28, 2020 Posted March 28, 2020 Is it just me, or is Steve Smith the absolute worst analyst/commentator on the whole staff? I feel dumber every time I listen to him, and each time he's done speaking I think the same thing....how the hell does the NFL allow someone that bad to continue to speak? 7

He's a diva WR, so he sounds more douchey than most commentators.... plus he's not exactly a favorite of fellow NFL alums because of the way he acts. Michael Irvin can be a diva, but when it comes to both of then, Michael Irvin is much more liked. "“I understand you got the rings, but I passed years ago statistically…,” Smith said, bringing statistics into his argument. “I got a doctorate in route running. You got an associate’s degree, playa. That’s community college.” https://nypost.com/2018/09/14/steve-smiths-feud-with-michael-irvin-spills-onto-live-tv/ Edited March 29, 2020 by EasternOHBillsFan 1
CommonCents Posted March 28, 2020 Posted March 28, 2020 I give Smith some benefit because he almost took down the Pats with Delhomme. He was a beast for a few years. 2
H2o Posted March 28, 2020 Posted March 28, 2020 He an arrogrant prick, just like he was when he played. 4

Hardhatharry Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 Well it is entertainment TV and he entertains me... So I like him. 1
hmsmystic Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 He's just too hostile as a tv commentator. I understand he was a small guy who played well with a chip on his shoulder, but this hasn't translated well to tv 2
Happy Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 Is he worse than Michael Irvin? A case can be made, but they both are loud and animated in making marginal points. 1

Super annoying 2
Buftex Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 (edited) Honestly, I think the NFL Network could be so much better....I can't think of a single personality on the network that I think is really good...Kurt Warner, maybe....Willie McGinnest...and Amber Theo Harris has great legs...Steve Smith and Marshall Faulk may be the worst of the bunch. The ones that aren't "too bad" are only not "too bad" in comparison to the others on the network. They just seem to go for the lowest common denominator...all the time. I love the idea of the NFL Network, but it is just hot garbage for the most part. I always here people, sort of generically, praise the Good Morning Football show, but it makes me cringe... Buffalo Boy Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 I watched Smith come up here in Charlotte. I really disliked that team: Delhomne because he wasn’t good. Fox because he was safe and predictable and his quotes sucked. Hurney because he sucked at drafting And Smith because he was / is a weeney. Between attacking two teammates years apart and his general Napoleon complex he rubbed be wrong. He has a weekly call in on the afternoon show here and he’s just a Douche. He talks down to the host. He talks crap about everyone he’s asked about. And he rambles on tangents like a teen who’s high for the first time. He hates player who gets drafted higher than he did and gets an ounce of publicity. It drives him nuts and he goes into personal cheap shot mode. Douchey Douche
GETTOTHE50 Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 havent seen much of his commentary, just some on NFL network, and idt hes that bad at all. heckuva player, the league was better with him.

Marshall Faulk has been gonzo for a while... a scandal toppled him. 1
Florida Bills Fanatic Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 I find it hard to believe that the NFL Network can't find former players that could provide better analysis and communicate that analysis in a professional manner. There are a couple that I think are okay but some are just terrible like Steve Smith. Fortunately, my TV remote has an off button. 1
The Firebaugh Kid Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 Hothead plus ignorance = bad commentator 1
