‘Not The Onion or Babylon Bee’: San Diego County’s COVID-19 alert system update sums up shutdown insanity perfectly

With different states each having different rules for what can and can’t be open, it can be difficult keeping track of what is and isn’t allowed to happen. The madness has been summed up in these COVID-19 alerts from San Diego:

‘THEY WANT TO GET THE HELL OUT OF WHERE THEY’RE AT:’ TAHOE REAL ESTATE DEMAND SPIKES.

“‘People are starting to ask themselves, ‘Why do I have to live in such an expensive area and drive an hour to work every day, or rent out an expensive office space when everyone can work remotely?’

If you don’t need to live in the city, why would you?’ Bednar said.”

Totally illogical ! You can go to the mall, but not inside the store. They’ve really got the best and the brightest working on this stuff in San Diego.

This is a prime example of regulations being BADLY applied. WNY has almost no cases, hospitalizations, or deaths, and yet their supposed to show a consistent level of decline?

Exactly. With the hospitals fudging their numbers due to high Covid19 reimbursements, those hospitalizations are being given too much weight.

The anger is real.  The polls may say one thing but the energy is definitely on the get to work crowd.

This for me is a tea party 2 sort of a movement that is bubbling.

Say what you will about Trump -- he's a narcissist, he's a blowhard, he's truculent, et al -- but he's proven to have almost preternatural political instincts. And right now, he's lining up with that movement you're referencing for the 2020 election. The election was going to be about the economy, (capitalism vs socialism) but the black swan changed that. Now it'll be freedom vs lock down -- and the dems are eager to argue against freedom.

It's amazing really when you step back and look at the whole board.

These next 6 months are going to be nuts.

So LA has mandated (I think) people wearing masks when they leave their homes.  Ok awesome!   So we're good right?  We're totally protecting ourselves and others right?  So we're all going back to work right?  Right.? Is this thing on......Bueller...Bueller...Bueller?

But seriously.  If everyone is in protective masks why can't we open up and go back to work?  I don't get it.

I could be wrong and if there ends up being outbreaks in many places where it’s not just biased media reporting but actually happening then things change.  But I don’t see that happening and I just happen to think that Democrats are being fooled by these polls.  The ones where poll questions are provided in binary terms that lack the proper nuance of how people feel about going to work now or coming back “too soon”.   It’s a false dichotomy.

Of course if only given two options most will defer to the side of caution.    But what’s really at the heart of it is that it’s become political.  Orange man says we should get to work so the left and their allies in the media take the opposing position.

The support for keeping things closed That show up in the polls is a paper tiger.  The support to get back to work is real, these people are hurting, they are foot soldiers and they will show up at the polls.

The CA special election was not a fluke.  The question for me is when will Dems realize this is a losing hand?  And they need to act soon on this because if they become Johnny come lately’s then they will be viewed as following Trump’s lead.

I’m not sure how they get out of this aside from having bad outbreaks in the fall.  And it’s hard not believing that in a sense they want that, why else have Katz who is a democratic operative lawyer and the Dems today people him up speaking of potential impending doom later on this year?

I dont know how to say this without sounding callous, but taken from a strictly political standpoint,It has become readily apparent to most of a large portion of conservative, never Trumpers,(me, and my ilk)  that the other  side cares not about our health and well being, but only about defeating Trump.

I am a gambler, and i can't see a way Trump does not win ..when you have pretty much lost me, you have lost all independants.

In May, 2016 Hillary was wrapping up her delegates. People were saying the same thing about her.

Lots can happen in 6 months. No, I’m not willing to bet you ?
