LET’S GET BACK TO WORK:

Nobel Prize-winning scientist shares COVID-19 data showing strict lockdowns were an overreaction.

“…the damage done by lockdown will exceed any saving of lives by a huge factor.”

So, how do the folks who keep saying those who want to open back are crazy react ?

.

I believe that today's talking point is that anyone who wants to open back up are violent white supremacist Nazis.

The lie: Former New Yorker writer Talia Lavin posted a picture of an April 20 demonstration in Pittsburgh, protesting Gov. Tom Wolf’s nearly two-month-long stay-at-home order and shutdown of nonessential businesses.

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette photographer Andrew Rush attended the rally and posted pictures of the event on Twitter.

One of the pictures Lavin shared on her Twitter account features Jill Cooper of Murrysville, a longtime conservative activist and Trump supporter, holding a sign that read: “Work Sets You Free,” the English translation of the German slogan “Arbeit Macht Frei” that is displayed over the entrance of the Auschwitz Nazi concentration camp.

The truth: Independent Oregon journalist Andy Ngo, however, revealed that Lavin’s photo was doctored and posted the original photo showing Cooper holding a sign that actually read: “Free Small Business.”

“This sign in Pittsburgh was doctored & circulated online to have a Nazi concentration camp slogan. Real photo on the right by photographer Andrew Rush. People are working overdrive to smear all “reopen America” protesters as fascists. When they can’t find them, they create them,” Ngo wrote.

I really don't understand the logic of the people behind the "smear the 'reopen America' protesters" as fascist" at ALL.  It's illogical.

If you think about a spectrum of complete liberty on one end and complete government control on the other end, fascism and all forms of communism/socialism are at the far end of one side.  The "reopen America" protesters are advocating for the exact opposite of that, which is to say they want their life back, they want their freedoms back and they want their liberty.  The people who are fighting to remain closed are much closer to fascist, advocating for the government to keep business closed, keep people in their homes, and essentially tell us what we can and cannot do.

Now, I am not saying that everyone that wants society to remain on lockdown are in fact fascist, I don't believe that is the case at all.  I think the vast majority of those people are well-intentioned folks who are simply scared.  I get that.  But calling the other side "fascist" makes absolutely no sense at all.  They are the exact opposite of fascist, which is what makes those claims ludicrous.

This is a non-Covid observation but I note this: I wouldn't lay the blame for this image manipulation necessarily on someone with a leftist agenda. It could be either side or another actor who did this. The sign wouldn't make the left as triggered as an image showing manipulation will make the right. Consider the outcome and you might find a different bad actor than you think.

Trump: Coronavirus briefings will return, blasts ‘angry’ CBS News reporter

</snip>

Trump, who ended the daily briefings last week, said there would continue to be one or two a week as he pivots from crisis management to reopening the economy. He said his new White House press secretary, Kayleigh McEnany, would be holding court at some of those sessions.

</snip>

Me: Anyone would watched the pressers knew who he would single out. They are both very disrespectful. Paula Reid's hubby is paid by China. I understand why she is so angry, nasty, and screechy. Weijia Jiang is a native of Xiamen in China. I cannot believe he calls on either one of them.

</snip>

He singled out two CBS News journalists as people who particularly irritated him — Weijia Jiang and Paula Reid — during the briefings.

We’re seeing a bunch of talking heads (‘experts’) predicting WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE if and when we open the country based of course on the same model that got everything so wrong in the first place, the IHME. They keep saying the same crap over and over again, ‘While the model’s assumptions are unclear and estimates are uncertain,’ …

Well, then why the Hell would we use it to make any real decisions?!?!

Even Brit Hume has had enough of this BS:

Issues & Insights offers six state-level proto-tyrants whose pandemic edicts make them solid candidates for recall campaigns. Whitmer of Michigan and Newsom of California are obvious candidates, and the latter might want to consult with one of his predecessors, Gray Davis, who knows a lot about recalls.

No one ever pays attention to the uncertainty interval, they just want exact data. Hard to get that from a BRAND NEW virus with unknown mortality and contagion data.

MTA to use ultraviolet lights to kill coronavirus on NYC subways, buses

</snip>

Transit officials Sunday announced plans to use powerful ultraviolet lamps to disinfect the agency’s trains, buses and work areas — a modern upgrade from the bleach and chemical sprays typically used for clean-up.

The technology is a part of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s beefed-up cleaning efforts during the coronavirus pandemic, and was born out of a partnership with scientists at Columbia University who were previously testing UV lights as a method to quickly kill other diseases in transit systems.

I can get my windows cleaned tomorrow!!  It has been put off a number of times, first because NYS asked them to hold off "for a week," then because with the extra $600 in unemployment, he was having a tough time getting people to work for him.

Building cleaning has been listed as essential, but NYS has been playing games with the cleaning services. My cleaning service told me last week they are hoping for next week, but expecting June 1. Again, this is with cleaning services listed as "essential."  <_<

Wait a minute! I only have to pay $39 to have a seat open next to me? Finally, some good news! Can I put my bag in the seat and avoid the baggage charge? Now THAT would be the icing on the cake!

Yep, I predicted something like this and I don’t hate it. I’ll pay even more not to have someone in between my companion and myself. Newsweek is portraying it as a negative, it seems. I don’t think the bag thing will fly though lol
