I agree. But the people should get money without restrictions, the businesses on the other hand have to use the money in the public interest and not to hand out huge bonuses to their CEOs. And no way should Trump control half a trillion dollars to do as he pleases, that's right out.

You are listening to liars who have to lie to hide their true intentions, which are to advance a completely unrelated series of separate  agendas. There are provisions preventing salaries and bonuses to exceed $450k and what you are calling a slush fund is not that, but a well controlled fund with specific parameters and subject to the light of day. Instead of listening to people who lie for a living why don't you bother to look into these things yourself?

Let's begin to set the table for alternative voting procedures for the senators in quarantine..if millions of Americans can be forced to work from home, the public will be agreeable to this sort of thing.

Pelosi making sure election security from virus fears are addressed

Quote

That pro-democracy piece, according to a summary of the bill being circulated by House Democratic aides, contains these provisions:

  • It mandates that states and jurisdictions set up a process by which any eligible voter can vote by mail if he or she chooses — and would not require voters to give any rationale for doing so. Such voters would be provided with a postage-prepaid, self-sealing envelope.
  • If any state or jurisdiction declares an emergency, they would be required to automatically mail absentee ballots to all registered voters, no later than two weeks before Election Day.
  • It requires states and jurisdictions to implement at least 15 consecutive days of early voting in federal elections.
  • It mandates that states and jurisdictions create a same-day voter registration option for all eligible voters.
  • It budgets $4 billion for states to implement these changes, in keeping with a recent Brennan Center analysis that recommended that any coronavirus response legislation include at least $2 billion to protect the election.

Why attach this to a stimulus package in March when the election is in November and its very likely that life will be back to normal.  This is nothing more than a dem power grab.

Thanks for admitting that allowing people to vote is a Democratic power grab. Because, it really is.

They want to be able to harvest votes just like they do in CA. I can guarantee you that everything they propose is the same as allowing the camel to put its nose under the tent. Sooner or later you'll be fighting with that camel for the blanket.

Yup, how evil, making sure the people can vote. Thanks for showing your true colors.

I suppose that it would be a waste of time to try to explain to Tibsy that "ballot harvesting" (which the left is pushing)

is pretty much the opposite of "one person - one vote.

DEMOCRATS GOTTA DEMOCRAT

One might hope that this stunt will have the same effect as the Democrats’ freak show over Brett Kavanaugh before the 2018 mid-term election (at least two defeated Democratic senators blame the backlash against their Kavanaugh antics for their defeats).

Meanwhile, amidst the chorus of liberal and media voices who are now telling us how President Pantsuit would have handled the crisis better, let’s roll some tape just what liberals and the media were saying about some of Trump’s earliest moves, like the China travel ban:

DR, do you have a link to the House's (or the Senate D's) bill? Couldn't find it on the house.gov website.  You usually seem to find these pretty effectively.  TIA.

Let me take a look, I thought it was floating around in those earlier threads...

ROGER KIMBALL: The Democrats just made a huge mistake — They are exploiting a national emergency for the grubbiest of partisan motives.

Or as America’s Paper of Record notes: Democrats Worried Stimulus Bill Would Stimulate Economy.......?

Democrats are counting on their party operatives with bylines to spin this for them and/or for the past two days to be forgotten by November — and in both cases, they could be right.
