Giuseppe Tognarelli Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 Offense: Diggs (Re-signed Spain) Defense: Norman Addison Klein Matakevich Jefferson Butler (Extended Poyer) Is McBeane always going to prioritize defense first? Going into this, all of the analysis was that the Bills needed to build the offense, but apparently McBeane had other plans. You can talk about the draft all you want, but those returns aren't usually immediate.

Unless someone is looking at it with an agenda. 8 1 3
Augie Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 A lot of that “defense” is largely ST, and BY FAR the largest and most important acquisition was on offense. We just got started in free agency. Let’s see this play out, then see what happens in the draft. (Spain is not unimportant.) 3
Buffalo Junction Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 I assume that they went harder on defense to replace Phillips, Lorax, Johnson and Lawson. McB probably believe that the draft is better suited for upgrading offensive positions this year. Plus, a lot of these defensive players have experience in McDs scheme.... They’ll be seamless fits in an abbreviated off-season. 4
1st Ammendment NoMas Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 I think they bring in an RB still. Hopefully Miller or Freeman since Howard is gone. I wouldn't mind Crowell either. He has had some monster games when healthy. Maybe another TE or OT. 1
Steptide Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 Willing to bet they go offense in the draft. We (finally) have what shoukd be a solid offense. Every position has been addressed over the last few seasons. Tight end, wide receiver, running back, quarter back, o-line. Obviously we still need some pieces but I think they're in good shape 3
SCBills Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 Lost on Defense: Jordan Phillips Shaq Lawson Kevin Johnson Lorax Julian Stanford Should we play WR’s and RB’s on that side of the ball? 6 1 1
Royale with Cheese Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 (edited) Is Beane always going to prioritize defense but last year they signed 15 offensive players in free agency.... Edited March 18, 2020 by Royale with Cheese 14 6 1 3
JMF2006 Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 I think the last glaring need on the O is RT and I thought Nske was good when healthy which was about 3-4 games to start the year

BillsVet Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 I've been banging the drum that McD has prioritized the defense his first 2 seasons at the expense of the offense. The byproduct was their offense during the first half of 2018 and last year they were mostly below average. You could have made this point a year ago, but not anymore. Trading for Diggs combined with their focus on offensive skill types last year in UFA and the 2 third rounders is a major shift. This is a team that has been questioned about their offensive talent and they responded. So long as McD and Daboll use these guys appropriately, they've changed their direction. 3
Ethan in Cleveland Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 They needed to add four front 7 defenders and make it five if they cut Murphy. And they got the veteran WR. In a perfect world the WR would have been AJ Green in free agency and then use first round pick on OLB. But Diggs contract is great. So giving up the #1 is ok. Add a RB and OT in the draft
whatdrought Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 What offensive players are we missing out on? The playmaker side of things in FA is pretty bare.
BigBuff423 Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 Because, 1. They prioritized Offense last year in FA and the trade for a true, proven #1 WR is what they would have done in the draft without the NFL resume’ and 2. The Draft this year is loaded with great Offensive talent. Also, a slight aside, but RB is now the only Offensive position that really needs depth at this point in FA. And none of the signings preclude the Bills from taking any position (except QB) in rounds 2-4.
