  1. 1. Should The NFL Delay Free Agency?

My feeling is no they shouldn't delay as there are no crowds and it be nice to have something for Joe Q Public to look forward to in this trying time. I know others have a different opinion and I get that too. Meanwhile Mike Florio is on Twitter on a Crusade to stop it and getting crushed.

...So what you think?

Tough one. I voted no because I’m greedy.  With no sports, free agency is all we have for the next month.

I say no simply because Mike Florio is a mega douche and has been annoying AF about this.

Also, cause I'll die of boredom.

That’s crazy, Mike Florio doesn’t annoy me.  Just do as I do and he won’t bother you either.

Don’t listen to him.

You're describing the internet... Everything on the internet is annoying, so don't get on the internet.... The problem is that I, like most, enjoy some level of annoyance as long as I have an outlet to whine about it.

Tough call but voted no because it doesn’t really have to do with crowds. Additionally, it gives the NFL the sporting landscape to itself.

This is the interesting piece.. FA doesn’t require crowds or large gatherings and will give the NFL 24/7 coverage of any, and every move made.  ESPN is now on Day 2 of talking about how they have nothing to talk about.  In a few days, the Jags could sign a backup LB’er and they’d probably cover it for hours with Shefter providing details and analysts breaking down the fit.

That is a phenomenal point that I hadn't thought of... The NFL can have the corner on the market, and with minimal changes to how things are traditionally done, they can do so without needlessly endangering anyone. $$.

I also don't think it gets bumped because teams will just not want to wait... As much as the middle of June is hell for us, there isn't a ton of Margin in the NFL offseason and there's a lot of moving parts.

Does a player have to sign a contract in person?  If they do, and can’t fax or do it virtually, then I think they should delay it.

I don’t trust players to not go back on verbal agreements because they didn’t sign due to travel restrictions.

If they can eSign, then I don’t think visits are really that relevant except for tier B free agents

No.  IT's like the trade deadline ...  5 PM close a fax at 4:49 gets it done

Fax and done

Video conference, witnesses etc

Josh McDaniel's are few

Florio is an idiot - good to see him go down in flames for yet another stupid idea.

As others have said - the amount of contact required to do free agency is minuscule - and easily mitigated.

Have I mentioned Florio is an idiot?

Totally prepared to have the draft not have a live audience, and frankly, the audience adds little to the experience for most of us.  B/R is better coverage than the NFL/ESPN noise anyway.

Generally I vote against what Mike Florio wants like when elected officials are endorsed by certain organizations and my opinion is if the NFL tries to make any changes NFLPA will require concessions so don't make any.

Players need to be interviewed, wined, dined, flown around in a jet, look at neighborhoods, schools, etc.

It can't hurt to delay it for a month.

Oh wait...I guess everyone wants FA because they'll be bored out of their skull.  We should expose players, their families and franchises to a deadly virus just to make our lives more exciting??

You have a better opinion of Florio than me.
