<------ As you can see in my picture big fan of Balvenie! Love the Caribbean Cask.

Glenfiddich 15yr is my favorite bottle under $60.00. Best value in my opinion.

Glenmorangie 18 is awesome but then I drink it too fast. $140.00 too much to have a bender.

Aberlour is double wood has good value under $60.00

Oban 14 is rock solid.

Not a fan of the Peat. So Dalwhinnie 15 is about as much "smoke" as I can take.

Redbreast 15 is quite enjoyable.

Neat, with a tiny bit of water if its over 80 proof, is the only way to drink it.

Of all those Oban and Balvenie Caribbean Cask are the ones that really catch my eye and palate.

Aberlour is overrated to me and I actually prefer the taste of The Glenlivet 12 to Aberlour... plus it's $10-$15 cheaper.

I've tried Glenfiddich before, including samples of the 15 and 18 year old a couple times in those gift sets that give the travel sized bottles of the higher ages.

To me:

Glenlivet >>>>>>> Glenfiddich

Glenlivet 14 yr Cognac cask is new and It is now in top 5. I prefer the older Livets vs the Fiddichs but I like the younger fiddichs a touch more. In all honesty haven't had a 12 yr of either in a lonngg time. The Morangie 10 is my preference of the 3 young Glens.

Glenmorangie 18 is a treat. Just put up a Signet as well and waiting for an occasion to go at it.

Once in Heathrow many years ago I came across a Glenmorangie that had been aging since 1974.  I think it was aged ~24 years.  It was something.

I've never had anything in the house older than 21 yo. I wouldn't trust my self with something like that in house. Bet it was awesome!

Clearly you're more of a Bourbon fan then.

Definitely not me.

I will say I am not as far along on my Scotch journey than my Bourbon journey by maybe a decade and a half.

My wine journey started somewhere in between.

Hate scotch. It's bandaid forward.

It's so weird.  I love the band-aid (peat) profile of scotch.

Wait for the opportunity. When I can get it for 100 and under I do.

My 18 year olds look like this: Glenmorangie>Glenlivet>Glenfiddich if I can get the Morangie for $100.00 that's a no brainer. When and where should I look. I've seen it at Total Wine for 119.00. An I consider that a "deal".

How much is the Glenlivet 14 year Cognac Cask?

I've never heard of it and I'm intrigued.

Prices in Florida are $10-15 cheaper than WNY.

$45 is stealing. (NYS taxes I'd assume)

Two of you in this thread pushing that Caribbean Cask. I love Balvenie so I’ll try this.

Remember everyone's tastes are different but if you like the other's we've both mentioned in this thread, you'll probably like the Caribbean Cask as well.

The ABC in Virginia often grants a 20% coupon for drinky holidays, Black Friday, Cyber Monday and the like. Normally it's ~115 and that will do the trick. If you catch it on monthly sale for say 100-105 and then hit it with the coupon code, it's a score.

That's how I snagged the Signet, it was a monthly special for 199, and 20% off made it 159.

For no discernable reason the 750ml bottle here is 60, but the 50ml airplane bottles are 3.49 - a lesser unit price per ounce.

Also a fan of Glenfiddich Solera. Picked up a Vat 2 (blue tin) at customs - it's only available to international travel markets, supposedly.

Tend towards the sherried for regular use - Glenlivet or Lasanta.

Found the Doublewood (and Balvenie in general) overrated and overpriced.

Highland Park was great before they changed it.

Talisker and Talisker Storm are in the rotation but Ardbeg is just too much.

Laddie (Bruichladdich) is just too young and rough.

Dalwhinnie is sort of a blank canvas.

Also on deck but untapped (so no opinion yet) are Oban, Lagavulin.

Fan of the killer B's - Booker's, Baker's, Blanton's.

Jefferson Reserve is good stuff except for that awful Ocean.

Buffalo Trace, always have a couple bottles on hand, or Eagle Rare.

EH Taylor is another from BT Distillery, used to be able to grab a tall boy for ~50, it's gone crazy.

Angel's Envy is wonderful but their rye is orgasmic (also has gone crazy, used to be 70).

IDK, I liked the bottle of Laddie i went through.  Drank it neat and didn't find it rough at all.

Ocean's vary drastically between voyages.  Some are excellent, some are pretty meh for sure.

Buffalo Trace is the most overrated cheaper bourbon.  I cannot fathom how it is hard to find, even allocated in some areas.  Eagle Rare is way better for the price point.  Of course, some are charging over $50 for it now though.

I can still find EH for $45 SmB and $70 SiB.  I'm a buyer of the single for $70 all day long.  The Rye is tremendous too and readily available right now for $70-80.

AE Rye is on my shortlist, but you are right, the price seems a bit much at the moment.  Their bourbon is very good too, I just kind of hate their bottles!

Respectfully disagree.  I don't even add water to my 120+ barrel proofs.  I just take smaller sips.  80 proof is pretty weak for whiskey and lacks the flavor of the stronger proofs IMO.  I find the sweet spot to be the bottle-in-bond 100 proofs.  Maybe a drop or two of water to work the oils, but that doesn't work for all whiskey's and that's all.

George Dickel is spelled "whisky" and I love that stuff. Especially the 13-year old BiB release.

The spelling doesn't necessary tell you if it's Scotch or Canadian or Bourbon, as they are simply different spellings of the same word.

But I'm a bourbon guy. Hard to find bad bourbon (unless you go overpaying for a lot of this underaged "craft" garbage). Very easy to find horrible Scotch,

I'm with you, a bit, on that. I do happen to be an ice freak, and love my bourbon with a lot of it. But I'm mostly sticking to 100 proof + bourbon, these days.

Anything Wild Turkey... especially rare breed and the rye.

My wife bought me the diamond when it was released for my birthday and was shocked how something that expensive could taste worse than their cheapest bottles.

Also Jack Daniels Frank Sinatra.

Buffalo Trace is scumptious

If Ron Swanson endorses Lagavulin then it must be good
