njbuff Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Dawkins ranks in the upper half of LT's in the NFL for sure and it is going to cost 15 mill a year to keep him................ Question is????? Is it a wise decision to keep him at this rate? I say it's a big yes, but I think a lot of you might feel differently. What do you think? 2
H2o Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 The market is just going to keep increasing as with anything else. I'm fine with 5 years $70,000,000-$75,000,000 in total with $45,000,000-$50,000,000 of that being guaranteed. I just hope they get the deal done sooner rather than later as the price tag will continue to go up. 2
YoloinOhio Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Yes. LTs get paid a lot of money, it’s just reality. 7 3

GunnerBill Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Yes. I was sceptical before the year. I was unconvinced at the quarter pole. I thought he had his best, most consistent period as a Bill from the bye onwards. I'd pay the man. Again the CBA issue makes an extension this year tricky, but because (unlike Tre White) you don't have a means of keeping him next year without the contract extension (save for the tag) so I think you have to bite the bullet. 1
White Linen Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Yes. He's very good, he's 25 and he stays healthy. These are the exact type of players you sign long term. 5
bigK14094 Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 He i s one of McBean's guys. He gets resigned imho. The money....well, its a budget game.....but, the better guys need to be reup'd. You know the names.
Over 29 years of fanhood Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Not personally. But I don’t have a $200,000,000 budget. Beane, he should strongly consider it. 3
TheBeaneBandit Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 I'd prefer to keep it around 12-13 per year, but that's not the world we live in. I would try and get him and Tre done asap, so we can keep this train rolling before the salaries get even more wack.
BarleyNY Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/dion-dawkins-21805/market-value/ Yup. Spotrac has him at approx $14.3M AAV. 5 years, $71.7M estimated contract. If the current CBA rules allow it, then get it done. If not, agree in principle and do it as soon as possible.
njbuff Posted February 25, 2020 Author Posted February 25, 2020 Also, he is the Bills best red zone target right now. ? 1 8 1
NewEra Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Eh. I’ve maintained no, but I also haven’t broken down any of his film this year. I think we’re going to resign him because he’s been playing his cards right/seems like a great guy. Just seems to me he gets beat on plays we have to have
Lurker Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Yep. Above average LT's cost a lot of money...
atlbillsfan1975 Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 (edited) Dawkins is everything you want out of a player in the locker room and off the field. I think if Beane can find him a constant solid left guard to play beside, Dawkins will be a solid to good LT for years to come. It’s not coincidence that Dawkins disappointing season came when the entire line was in shambles. Yes, pay him and move on. Edited February 25, 2020 by atlbillsfan1975 1
