You idiots can keep fighting over Roth and Hagar.

We all know the real deal ... Gary Cherone ... blows them both away.

Thus sayeth Eddie:

“It was a strange thing with Cherone,” recalls Van Halen. “We were getting ready to go on tour, and all of a sudden I see this John Travolta outfit -- these big lapels and a crazy jacket. Gary's like, ‘This is my stage outfit.’ That’s when I realized it wasn’t going to work. But I don’t dislike Gary at all.”

And that's just one example showing why EVH is such a douchebag ...

Klosterman's collection of interviews with Eddie and other fun folk like Jimmy Page is a good read.

Some of the isolated audio of Roth is amazingly hilarious.  That alone makes him the pick.

I know what random music I'm listening to for the second half of my work day.

”Only time would tell if they stood the test of time.”

35 years later, they didn’t. Looking back now, it’s safe to say that VH jumped the shark after ‘1984’.

He opened for Kiss here a few weeks ago and was apparently atrocious.

Yeah, I wouldn't pay to hear him sing these days.

As noted above, he has been on the Joe Rogan podcast twice now, I believe, and he was fantastic both times.

Talking about a wide variety of topics mostly unrelated to music, including living in Tokyo so he can study martial arts.

He's intelligent and a really interesting guy, not what you might think he would be.

Also a bit crazy, but that's part of his unique brand of charm.

certain moments are frozen forever, a friend's older brother putting this on the turntable with stereo at full volume was a great moment to be 12

Did he talk about working as a paramedic not really all that long ago?  I think his dad is a doctor.

I got in my car to head up to the kids' house, and what's on the radio? "And the Cradle Will Rock."

What was my VERY FIRST thought instantly?

@Royale with Cheese

I now associate VH with Royale............permanently.

Never heard of it.

They had their biggest successes after "1984."

Yeah, and Kenny G made more money than Miles Davis.
